I see you have a big pickle. I think they can assign you a site that will work. They are nice sites, gravel, not paved but well laid out. Many have a deck with a gas grill. They all have full 5 point hookups now in the premium zone. Once you park your vehicle you are set. A shuttle can transport you around. Get as many as you can to indicate on the poll a willingness to attend. This would be a great rally.

Stone Mountain Campground

We are only about 45 minutes from there, so it sounds like a good plan. We have never camped at Stone Mountain campground, due to the small dogs only policy at the campground. Could someone please see if that dog policy has changed with the new management. My nephew and his wife are looking to buy an Airstream today. If the deal goes through, add two more to the count.

We have brought our larger dog (74#) in the past with no problem. No one said anything and she's no problem, very mellow. Your going to like staying at Stone Mountain! What's amazing is the number of people in the greater Atlanta Metro area that are totally unaware of RV camping in Stone Mt. Park. The premium sites are nice and they have really make a lot of improvements. Show your support on the poll and please encourage others to do the same. Once I see we have the minimum number needed to get the greatest benefits I will pull the trigger with the park.

Hello everyone! John Gombala and his assistant, Sharron Abercrombie here. We are at Stone Mountain Park Campground and are looking forward to your probable visit in April 2012. To answer some of your questions about the Park and Campground . . .
We will, of course, agree on a discounted rate for your camping sites, premium or otherwise; We will waive the gate fee of $10 for each participant and provide a "Car Pass" to use while you are here; and we offer Adventure Passes (needed for some of the attractions) at the regular one-day price but include a second day at no additional charge. Our Pavilion will be a great place to gather for meals and meetings.
Once you decide to come, we promise to make your stay a fun and memorable one.

Just an added note: The Laser Show will be shown on Saturday nights during April, and, yes, it's a new and fabulous show.
Secondly - Large dogs are welcome as well as the little guys. They are all to stay on leashes and the "pick up policy" is requested.
Keep the questions coming.
Sharron

Stone Mt Park Rally 2012

Robin and I really like to kayak around on the lake in Stone Mt. In the fall especially, all the colored leaves are reflected onto the water as you paddle and the effect is amazing. The lake itself is larger than expected with many coves to explore. We launch close to our camp spot by the water taxi dock. I also enjoy finding a nice lounging spot on top of the mountain and just relaxing and enjoying the view and the people around me. There is a lot to do in the park and most of it is very kid friendly. I would recommend that you stock up on food and supplies before you enter the park. We found that we had to travel a ways outside the park to find an open grocery store and then you have to get back into the park so stocking up before hand is a good idea. Once you try RVing in Stone Mt. Park you will find yourself going back again.

Hi from Decatur. . .we're trying to clear our schedule now. It's such a long tow---maybe 7 miles---making sure we can fit it in. . . regards, Craig

remember also Springstream in Hiawassee will be - either March 30 to April 1 or April 13- 14 depending on what our folks prefer. Just so as not to get the TAC rally too close together.

We have to coordinate with Stone Mt. Park and the date has been set for April 27-29 which should not be a problem for your event. Cheers

Stone Mt Park Rally 2012

Looks like we will have sufficient interest to put on a first rate rally at Stone Mt. Park in 2012. I will, under a separate thread create the rally event. Thanks for everyone providing their input into what could be a yearly event in the future.

did not mention this earlier.. but -when I was in the band Atlanta our signature closer was the closing song for the Laser show for a few years. Blue Side of the Grey. It was a trip to sit out on the lawn and hear my guitar ringing out over the faces on the mountain. Those were the days...sigh
