Anyone know where I might be able to rent an RV for this rally? We are newbies trying to gain experience. This is 3 hours from home.

Thanks,
Stan

Hotels Within and Near Stone Mountain Park - Georgia's Most Popular Attraction

You might want to stay at one of Stone Mountain Park's hotels and just come spend time at the Rally. You will be able to view different trailers at the "Tour of Trailers", then join in at the social activities where you can meet campers and ask questions about Airstreams.
Uhaul has motorhomes that can be rented too.

Is there any interest in bringing along spare trailer parts to sell or trade? I have been to Rallies where people set up tables for their wares. This idea would probably have to be approved by the campground, but it might be fun to do. I think it is called a Swap Meet. Sometimes trailer art, antiques for trailers and such are also included.

Tac-ga/springstream rally, stone mt, ga

I just received the latest tally of reservations made. We have 32 confirmed reservations for the rally which is really good! As of this date, the following sites (6 total) are available on a first come basis. On the Orange loop, Sites, 5, 7, 9. On the purple main rally loop are two motor coach sites, Site 151 and 152 and trailer site 140. So if you have been on the fence about attending now is the time to act. We have until March 21st to nail down these last remaining sites before they are released to the general population. I just know there are some Airstream Motorcoach folks out there so call in and reserve Sites 151 and 152. The other sites are good so don't hesitate, call in and reserved the sites. Let's fill it up!

So much to do and so little time. Still have to save time for relaxing and socializing with new friends.

I wish I could do both! It is a 5 1/2hr drive for me...tough with the two so close together. Maybe next time!

All are welcome! I'm looking forward to removing winters dust, and getting the trailer ready for the road.

TAC-GA/Springstream Rally, Stone Mountain Park, GA

Don't forget to bring your kayaks. Stone Mountain Lake is a nice place to paddle around on and there is a good launch spot right next to where we will be camping. With luck, it won't be windy.

For some of you who live in the greater Atlanta Metro Area, think about setting up and commuting to and from work based out of your trailer. If you have to put in some work days around the rally, consider the possibility of commuting from Stone Mt. Park. You can come home to your Airstream and be at the rally. Might work for some and allow you to put in more camping time. Just a thought.

With a 7 plus hour commut I think I will just come and spend the time there. Work can get along with out me as far as I am concerned. With less than a year to my second retirement it is getting easier and easier to find reasons/excuses not to go in. In fact if the weather is nice I might just call in sick and spend a couple of more days at the mountain.

We were camped at Stone Mountain maybe 5-6 years ago and had brought our kayaks. I went paddling out in the lake (which is awesome, BTW), and I ended up paddling close to and behind a stage they use for concerts - and who was singing but Grace Slick (yes, the Acid Queen). I had one of the best seats in the house!

Awesome opportunity. Was it Jefferson Airplane or a later incarnation? And at Stone Mountain no less.

Not sure - I was tripping on acid. Actually, I was behind the stage on the lake and couldn't actually see the stage; I know it wasn't Jefferson Airplane, much later.

Afraid for this adventure we will just have a great day playing around on the lake. For those without boats you can still zip around via the free water taxi.

Interest Level for Music Friday Evening

It's been discussed but it seems nothing definitive has been planned.

I received a note from Alan last night regarding music at Stone Mtn and I'll throw my two cents in.

The boys and I have been rapidly expanding our repertoire to include many popular 50s-60s numbers along with our traditional Eagles, Mellencamp, and the like.

Does anyone have any interest in some open mic live karaoke following Friday evening meal? I mean, it's fun to play and sing, but even more fun to involve the crowd (who will likely be singing along anyway)?

Here are some facebook links (sorry if you don't have facebook) of some music we've done at my pizza shop in the last month (with a really good singer).

Pretty Woman
Johnny B. Goode
Mustang Sally

Anyway, we'd be happy to bring our stuff and a collection of about 15-30 songs to choose from (with lyrics printed LARGE) if this sounds like a good idea.

I can even provide a list of songs in advance (as well as perhaps work in a few requests with advance notice...we love learning new songs!)

We're used to being "portable" and can set up/tear down pretty easily.

Other musicians are more than welcome to join in!

Input?

Go ahead and bring your stuff. If no one is interested nothing lost. I know Robin and I are big music fans and will appreciate whatever you decide to do. Friday evening at the social/mixer is the best time.
