Alrighty, we are paid in full now too, sorry to be such a last minute Lulu.
I have requested a premium site, in the pet loop in 1400.
We are travelling with our grandson who is 3, but mature enough to play with a 4 year old definitely.
Excited now!

Hey Hank and Kathy,
Did you reserve for the Epcot Food and Wine or are you just bookmarking it?
We like food...and wine....and music....should we try to go together. I bet other Airstreamers like food and wine?

Heck yeah there's others here that like food and wine. Only problem is that we have the same issue that you're going to have with your grand daughter...what to do with the kid(s) while you're trying to enjoy food and wine!

I'm not familiar with Epcot (or any Disney World parks, since I've never been there!) but I'm guessing that the food and wine area(s) don't overlook a fenced-in kids' playland, eh?

No it does not. You do have public transportation to and from the park. Having said that, for my kids the World Showcase (where most of the food and wine takes place) is not all that exciting. Bored kids.....

Smile Yes we do like food and wine

I've been reading as much as I can about the F & W Festival. A recent post on another site has a list of what food and wine is available at specific locations. We have the dining plan and will proably use some of those credits if we can. Drinking wine is a lot more fun in a group.

Jason-your kids probably won't enjoy Epcot as much as the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. If they are big movie fans or stunt fans they might like Hollywood Studios. There are plenty of sites that give you info about taking young children to the parks. My niece ws 3 the first time we went to Disney with her. She was a little overwelmed but as a 4 year old she had a great time. Abby liked both MK and AK the best.

My calender says "58 days till WDW"--but then we are going early.

Kathy

I am also including the spreadsheet I plan to use for mapping out my dining credit.
Where is said spreadsheet? I am ready to start planning!

I would have to agree with Kathy about Magic Kingdom and AK being the best kids parks. Epcot does offer some child friendly stuff but just not nearly as much.

Tips -
Our daughter found the Lights, Motor Action stunt show at Disney Hollywood studios to be a bit overwhelming at age six. The end of it scared her (fire explodes right in front of crowd and we were close enough to feel the heat).

Toy Story Mania almost always has a wait of 20 minutes or more. Often reaching into the 45 -115 minute range.

now you ask me, after I deleted it last week because nobody but Kathy asked for it.

Honestly, most of the stuff is included in your room packet at sign in but Kathy might still have it......

Here are the contents of that spreadsheet. I can email it to anyone who wants it but not sure it warrants it. I sort of lost steam on it. I can however add to it ....

Directions To Fort Wilderness - According to AllEars.net
Take exit 64B from I-4 to World Drive. Follow the signs to the MK main entrance/toll booth and get in the right guest lane. Tell the attendant you are staying at FW and/or show them your reservation. They will wave you through. Following the FW signs, you will take the first right turn onto Vista Blvd. The FW resort entrance will be on the left.

Transportation
External Bus Route & Destination
Unless you plan to drive, you will need to hop a bus to travel around WDW. From the Outpost bus stop you can hop a bus to every park (except Magic Kingdom). Note: the bus does not start running to the parks until about 30-45 minutes before rope drop unless there is an early Character Breakfast.
Internal Bus Route & Destination
Orange Straight through the the resort on the main road from the Outpost Bus Stop to the Settlement Trading Post Bus Stop. It passes 600-1300 loops and the Meadows Trading Post on its route. (Meadows Trading Post area includes tennis courts, pool, snack bar, bathrooms, Camprfire Sing-a-Long and Bike Barn)
Yellow From the Outpost it takes the eastern side of the resort. It passes the 1500-1900 loops, 1400, as well as the 300-500 loops. It has an exit for the Meadows Trading Post Area as well.
Purple Leaves the outpost and travels to the Settlement Depot through the west side of the resort. It passes the 2000-2800 loops along its way
Boats Route & Destination
There are boats that leave the Fort Wilderness marina. They provide transportation to the Magic Kingdom, the Contemporary, and the Wilderness Lodge. There are other boats located throught WDW but since they don't directly affect this rally they are not listed.
Monorail Route & Destination
The monorail is an option but you must travel to get to a station. The nearest monorail station is located at the Contemporary and then the Magic Kindgom. You would need to take a bus or boat to a station then catch the monorail. For instance, if you wanted to take the monorail from EPCOT back to Fort Wilderness here is what you would need to do: Ride the monorail to The Transporation Center and switch to the Magic Kingdom monorail. From here you can ride the monorail to either Magic Kingdom or the Contemporary (arrives/departs inside the resort) then catch a boat back to Fort Wilderness If you decide to go Resort Hopping (checking out the other resorts) the monorail stops at the Polynesian, the Contemporary, and The Grand Floridian.

Swimming
Meadows Trading Post This pool has a toddler play area, a slide, and a hot tub.
Wilderness Cabin This pool is in a quieter area but lacks the other ammenities.
Bay Lake Beach WARNING - Swimming is NOT allowed in Bay Lake. As I understand it, it is not even recommended you wade in the lake. The beach is for soaking in the sun or playing in the sand.

Trading Posts
Meadows Trading Post This trading post is located in the middle of the resort. It is the larger shop, has a fireplace, a checker board, and RV/Camping Supplies as well as food. It also has a view of the pond.
Settlement Trading Post This trading post is located by the marina and trails end. It carries some clothing, food, and souvineers. It is a short walk to the beach.

In the end, this vacation is about Airstreams (and other vintage kin!) and the kids. Mom & Dad get plenty of food and wine events elsewhere. Not to mention mom & dad are getting a heck of a vacation in the week prior to Disney (hope New Orleans drains out by then!). So, in the week at Disney, we're taking a knee for the kids. The kids have been talking about Disney, chatting with Crush, shooting blasters in Toy Story land (or whatever it is) and all sorts of other things. We've got 4 days' tickets with park hopper, so I'm sure the kids will see a lot. Food and wine would be great, but just not in the cards for us most likely.
