Flyfishing Rally?

Just talk amongst a couple of forum members at this point, but... Is there any interest in doing a Flyfishing Rally in 2017? There's a few locations on the table that could be good, ranging from Pyramid Lake in Nevada to several locations in Colorado.

Any feedback is appreciated.

I'd be interested. My vote would be Colorado!

I'd be interested. I'd like to get back into fly fishing. Purchased a 4 piece rod in 2012 and haven't had a chance to use it but once. I'm pretty rusty at casting. Colorado would be my first choice and its closer for us and I've only got a 5 weight rod.

If the capability of the rod is a concern and pyramid is a location, Cabelas Reno has a great inexpensive setup and all the flies and expertise to get you there, except the small step ladder you need to get out far enough to cast to the edge of the shelf drop off.

Maybe a few different locations would be good

I taught my son to fly fish when he was a boy, then I set it aside for years. Son and Grandson are fanatics over it, even an Iceland destination. I should get back into it. What months?

In CA the stream season runs April to November. Rivers and lakes year around.
Pick up a fishing regulations book wherever you buy a license.

Were it to be Colorado, I'd say September so the summer crowds are gone and the trout are on the chew ahead of winter.

I don't fish, but my wife is a fly fishing guide in NY and an IFFF Certified Casting Instructor. All of our Airstream travels involve flyfishing for her, and biking for me.

A rally would be of interest, depending on where and when.

The hard part of traveling is all the licenses. I have my California license (used to live in the San Bernardino Mountains for 25 years), my New Mexico license (a resident there now), an annual Colorado license, and a growing collection of 3 day passes from other states.

I know this is a bit of a stretch but the trout fishing in central and northern British Columbia is awesome.

We spent some time in Fernie a month or so ago. Delightful.

Being tailwater rivers, the White and the Norfolk are both subjected to water releases. When this happens, wading turns to drift boats. I'm not a boat fan. The interesting aspect about the White is that you can drive down stream to catch the low water. It can give you as much as eight hours of fishing before the release rise.

Spring time has the most potential for high water. Summer and fall is nice. The fish get big! When I lived in the area, I had several 100 plus trout days...but hasn't every angler?

Those sites are in my neck of the woods. I'd be happy with 10 trout. All would be released.
