RV loop full

I tried to get in a minute before 9 am, but the best they could do was another LCRA campground 12 miles away. Black Rock campground. I think they had 5 left at Black Rock, but that may not mean much since on Friday when they closed there was supposed to be 5 spaces left @ Canyon of the Eagles, and those spaces were gone in 30 seconds this morning. We did get booked with the 4 hour boat tour. This will be our first AS event, and we are really excited about getting to meet some of you.

Canyon of the Eagles facilities

All

On the website is a posting that the bathroom facilities for the CoE nature park will be closed until March 31st. I know some of you have projects in progress. I don't know how close the other facilities are.

Dennis, Lorna, anyone?

OK - Here's the scoop.

The RV area rest room IS under renovation - BUT:

There are a couple of porta-potties at the shower site for required nightly visits. The Resort is now managing the RV sites and the RV campers can use the showers at the rec room at the resort. All appears to be manageable for those of you who underestimated your rebuild time -
you know who you are so I will not name those who may be potentially embarrassed by taking more time - and spending more money - than originally budgeted.

Most everything is within walking distance of the RV loop.

Topo map of the entire park:

RV Loop layout:

I talked with a thoroughly delightful woman who goes by "Selma". She is the campground host and is located at the #1 RV site. Please invite her to any happy hour or pot luck.

She strongly suggested that any who wish to take the vanishing canyon boat tour on Saturday to make reservations as soon as possible. With the warm weather the boat may actually be full.

Check in procedures are a bit different than in the past. The entrance station is no longer manned all of the time. If no one is in the entrance station, pick out a spot in the RV loop and park, then go up to the Lodge and register. Sounds simple enough. If anyone has a problem Selma said she could help out. She sounded excited when I mentioned that a bunch of old Airstreams would be there that weekend.

There's one name that comes to the "Top" of my list.

there is a name that come right to my mind. There is this one guy who needs a bathroom in his trailer to make this trip. and I dont think he is going to make it. And now that he will find out that the facilities will be closed, he may opt to go to Tx Vintage Rally instead.

I will be canceling our reservations tomorrow for the Canyon get together. Most likely I will be calling in around 9ish so if you want the spot, I would call shortly thereafter...

I wish that we could make this rally but it is just too close to our return from Mardi Gras to be able to pull it all together.
