Any Waze Navigation App Users?

BASH Rally folks -

If you are a Waze navigation app user, and are going to the BASH rally, I went ahead and created a "BASH Rally" Waze group you can join. This allows us to exchange private group messages on traffic conditions while on the road. You can also connect with friends and exchange information on the journey, such as estimated time of arrival.

I tried to create a larger "Airstreamers" group, but for some reason it says it exists already. But then I couldn't join it. I'll ask Waze about it.

Cheers,

Airstream Dad

I contacted the PA DNR today and was informed that catch and release Snipe season starts July 3 for Western PA. I think Saturday night, once dark, we will have a Snipe hunt. For those who have hunted Snipe before, I hope you will help those who have not, enjoy the same experience you did.

What you will need for a Snipe hunt is three things. 1).A pillow case(ask your parents before taking one from the trailer) or a sack with a wide opening like a brown paper bag or sleeping bag stuff sack.
2) A flash light. The Snipe is attracted to the flashlight so a strong flash light works best.
3) Patience. The Snipes are very curious and will come out once they feel comfortable.

I will never forget my first Snipe hunt. I didn't catch one, but the memory of participating is one of my fondest. My prospecting club did one a few weeks back and it was a big hit with all the kids present. Adults are welcome to participate also....

I also spoke with our BBQ Master today. He is willing to show anyone his tricks of how he smokes the pork butts and tri tips. It will be a very casual affair at his trailer. He prefers not to be on stage so bring a beverage to sip and enjoy the informal education. The most important parts are the first stage(meat preparation) and the slicing of the tri tips which have a very crazy grain and is a challenge to slice up. There is a lot of time between the two stages. Close to 24 hours to exact....

Age Limit

Hey Frank

Does PA have a age limit on Snipe hunting? Am I to old? We don't need the game warden shutting down The Bash

During catch and release season anyone of any age can hunt them, you just cannot keep what you catch.
From experience, a white pillow case works best...

Should I contact the FAA Flight Service. They can post a NOTAM "Note To Airmen". We don't want to hit any inbound or outbound flights into PIT

I have 24 kits. The kit is called the Wizard by Estes. It goes 1600 feet. We might need to contact the FAA.
Anyone who wants to build on can.

The kit and motor combination you are using does not require any NOTAM or FAA notification. I do encourage you to review and follow the NAR safety code, and be a good role model to the kids when flying!

I also will suggest that if flying with C's, you probably want to use streamers instead of chutes for a quick decent. 1,600 feet up is a long way up when the lightweight rocket starts drifting.

Dan, are you going to be joining us?
One of our repeat offenders used to do school seminars for schools before his retirement. He has always taken on the role as launch master and done a great job making sure everything is safe.
