Wallace Birthday Bash Questions

Rob, Frank, Steve and all,

Do you know if you have secured on site Ice sales yet. I'm bringing extra coolers for my stuff in case I need to shut down my Elec. only frig. Unless
that somehow changes to GAS/ELEC before I head that way. What would be your min. age for the pool if not with adult even with Lifeguard on duty? I wanted to discuss these things with the Grankids.
Also, do we know the number and age range of the kids coming?
My Grandkids were asking. They are 14, 13, 10

Snow is melting in Southern Ohio and we are going to start working the
PLAN. thanks,

Margaret, Ice is one of the details we are still working out... lots of details in planning a rally this big. Here are the three possibilities: A) someone says "...hey I am going to town. Anyone need me to bring them back ice?" B) John, one of your hosts, says... "hey, I am going to my pharmacy. How many bags of ice do I need to bring back?" C) (the one we are hoping for and working on) You say... "self... I need to walk down to the Ice Machine and throw $2 in the coffee can for the bag I going to take out." We are working on it and if all goes well we will have a big Ice Machine at your disposal.

The pool... I am going to let Rob handle that question. It is his property and the pool is a giant liability. I can tell you Zoe was very stressed out over the kids in the pool with no adults around. Zoe will not be stressed over the pool this year for sure. There will be a lifeguard on duty during certain hours. I will leave this question to Rob.

The Grand Kids will have a bunch of new friends right away. There will be a lot of kids that is for sure

Frank:

I spent 30 years in the sport of swimming and aquatics. One of the best rules (kids will hate) is always go into a pool feet first. No broken necks following those instructions. At least the first time getting in you go feet first. No running on a pool deck. No swimming unless you have somebody watching the pool. It only takes a few minutes to drown. You turn your head for just a minute and somebody can go under.

Why your eyes burn??? Well the free chlorine does not burn your eyes. It only takes three people to pee in a pool to make chloromine which is ammonia and chlorine forming a bond. That is why your eyes burn.

So you wild people if you want to do the night wee hour in the morning skinny dipping. I am for hire and I will life guard. Ha Ha.

Margaret,

I just did a quick scan of the list and I know we will have at a minimum, 30 kids... probably 40 or more. We are bringing 4 of ours which are 15, 12, 10 and 10. There will be lots of kids right in that age group... and some younger and a few older... Then there are the really old kids, sometimes they are the ones having the most fun and the kids are fascinated helping out... just ask my boys about Stewart and his Airplanes.

We can't wait to see you all there.

Anyone have college age kids they are bringing along? I've got 2 that may be coming. We're starting to thaw out here in Western PA.

Right Bob... and we knew that, but if we would have stayed to fight it would have become all about the the fight and not about the fun.

The one losing out is Wally Byam... I sure hope that if a group of folks are kind enough to be celebrating my birthday 50 years after I am gone that nobody will be trying to imped that celebration... especially folks that claim to be my own friends and family.

Bob,

Unfortunately, our college aged son won't be joining us. Fortunately, that's because he's graduating and starting his career (a sometimes difficult thing in our current economy.) We're practicing our sad look so it looks natural when we finish helping him and fiance' move into their new apartment. By the Bash, the nest will be officially empty.

I'm betting your kids will have a great time, regardless. I say, bring them if they're willing. They'll enjoy it and be the hit of the party.

Roy

Wonder if you'd get another C&D letter if you simply called it "Wally's Birthday Bash"?

Maybe so but I still think Rob & Company did the right thing by responding to the C&D letter and complying with same. Who needs the aggravation and expense of dealing with lawyers on any level? By following this course of action Rob made them look childish, small and petty. If I were a WBCCI member I'd be furious that any of my dues money was spent on lawyers to deal with escapade because there is no threat to the club or its reputation real or imagined.

They only dig the hole deeper with every move they make.

I've got a 10' x 20' canopy and a 3-burner gas stove.
Should I bring these along or pack more beer?

Frank,
I can't even imagine all the details to cover for the Bash, but it sounds like the ice is not going to be an issue. I won't have a tow vehicle with me .
so I will be more than happy if someones going for something and will let me give them $$ and get some ice.

You are right about the pool, I just want my grandkids to be clear on
Zoe's wishes.

My questions might be premature, but I'm so looking forward to this that
I get ahead of myself.

Steve, Sounds like this will also be a KID BASH!!! Lot's of fun!

with canopy and no beer you are dry. With beer and no canopy you are wet but don't care. I have a 10x10 easy up that I will bring. Along with beer.

Dear Mr. blindball,

I pray you can now see above some of the most crucial (and clearly overlooked) text in my query.

And now I must ask you dear sir, "Have you EVER seen me dry?"

EVER?!?

Sincerely,
Mr. Thirsty
