Bash 3.0 is on the calendar. We had fun at Bash I and II. I'm sure that Bash III will be no exception. Are we getting the big field on the other side of the lake? If I recall, there were not many trees over there. Could be a hot one.

Eric, we will have fully shaded sites in the area called The Island. Most of the rest is partial shade/sun. There are some, that actually prefer full sun. Just look at this a new venue. You will just have to trust your Hosts to provide you a third killer time and venue.
I was working on one of the musical entertainments just today. Hope we can nail this act down. I am also hoping we can get Dancin Hansen and his band to play for us.
Will you be bringing along a rocket built over the winter months?

Frank,

The kids are already talking about building more rockets. They had a blast with the ones we made at this years Bash. You could not have asked for a better place to launch them. I'm sure that the clown that parked me this year will set me up with a great spot next year. I'm not worried about it. I have been wanting to put some solar on my roof, now I have a perfect excuse. Do you think I can sell it to the wife?

Eric

I have the above cpap machine. During Bash I, I had full batteries when I went to bed. With heater on in the AM the batteries were down to 1/2. I ran the generator for 2 hours each morning. This I did for 7 days and made it. I believe if your batteries are good shape, you should be able to make it without problems. We even shared generators during the Bash I.. Just my experience. Obie

Obie, you must have an inverter... if you have a heater... the cpap will run on 12V but the heater is 110v only. By my calcs, the machine and humidifier would use 200AH for 8 hours of use. I would prefer that it would run longer than 8 hours. Not that I get that much sleep while at the Bash, but there is nothing worse than wakening because the air you breathe has been shut off.

Based on Steve's numbers for current on the heater (2.5 amps at 120 volts)
I come up with the same results.

It would be interesting if some one would actually measure the current as I have found most name plates are much on the high side when they list
wattage. Probably to allow for start up load which motors and cold heating elements have

300 watts seems like a lot of power for the heater . That is what a refrigerator draws and look how hot they get boiling ammonia.
Any one got a Kill a watt meter and one of these devices that could get a real number?

This is all theory for me as I have never used one of these. In fact I don't think I have ever seen one which should qualify me as an engineer in this area.

Bash III Is On The Calendar

We've got Bash III on the 2012 calendar.

We used our generator to top off the batteries in the morning and give the lovely ladies enough 110V to blow dry and curl their lovely locks.

I was thiking about shutting down the generator while they were in the middle of their rituals...but I thought better of that idea!

Rick... you are right. I reality, for many folks, the draw would not reach the max. For the cpap, the power usage is dependent on the pressure requirements of the individual. Most machines can be set for pressures between 4-20 cm H2O... so the range is 5 fold. The heater would be dependent on the ambient temps... so in the summer, it would likely not fire up as much if you are starting with room temp water.

I hope this info helps any folks that have a concern.
