A contest to wolf down a pound of bacon?!? You don't have to offer me a prize for that! Just give me the bacon.

I would be glad to not only cook said bacon for that contest, I would gladly participate. However, I would NOT allow the Bash Bacon to be used. As all of you that have tried my butchers bacon will testify, it is not normal bacon and diffidently is not meant to be wolfed down. Regular grocery store bacon is for wolfing down. I mean what kind of sport is it to see people eat 4 slices of the good stuff, when they normally would chew past 24 or more? All right, I am exaggerating by claiming the Bash Bacon is 1/4 pound per slice. It is only 1/8 pound per slice.

I was looking over the attendees list last night and was so pleased to see who has signed up thus far. I read them out loud to my family. Beth(my wife) just kept saying "Oh, I am so glad to they are coming." Ava(my oldest) sat patiently waiting and when the right name was read she blurt out a big "YES!!". When I finished, Halle(my youngest) looked at me and said "Dad, you didn't say Rebecca. She's my best friend and if she isn't going to the Bash, I don't want to go!!!!" This was followed by her burying her face in the pillow, and crying profusely. I gently rolled her over and told her Rebecca's parents names. She then realized that indeed Rebecca was coming. She next started some kind of victory dance, surely illegal to do in the in-zone of an NFL game.

It was too funny last year, how the two of them were too shy to go play right off the bat. They spent the first four days eyeing each other up. The last three days were from morning till night for them. Halle has been trying to learn to ride her bike without training wheels just so her and her best friend can ride fast together...

As for me, I very much look forward to seeing everyone again. This Winter has gotten deep into my soul and I for one am VERY ready to hit the road.

As a host I need to officially announce that the night the School Bus Demolition Derby takes place at the Big Butler Fair, I will be abandoning my duties to witness the carnage.

If you have never witnessed this, even if you are the biggest pacifist and appalled by motor sports of any kind, your inner barbarian will thank you for giving her or him a little nourishment. It is REALLY something to behold. As soon as the Big Butler Fair posts their schedule, we will be sure to get a link up here. The Big Butler fair is one of the oldest in America. It is what city slicker think a County Fair should be. That is 5 miles up the road. It will be going on the same time as the Bash. They also will be putting on a major fireworks show to celebrate Wally Byam's birthday.

Some people like corned beef hash. Some LOVE IT!!! I was surprised how popular it was. There is also talk of sausage gray and or chipped beef for this year.

The grill in the picture above I really like. Is it homemade or was it bought.

I am going to estimate that we have used the Mistral Blue Griddle a half dozen times or real close. During that time, It has cooked probably close to 50 pounds of bacon, the same quantity of sausage and or scrapple, 100 pounds of potatoes, and many many, did I say many tens of dozens of eggs and or pancakes/ french toast. Mistral Blue has been very generous in his donation of his griddle to cooking food for rally goers. Thank you for that Mistral Blue
I tried to buy the same griddle via Cabelas after I saw Mistral's the first time. They were out of stock. I ended up buying the Blackstone version.

It has done about the same, if not more quantities, with exception of the bacon. We did a conservative estimate of 100 pound of bacon on that baby...
