Arizona Round Up

We returned today from the Arizona Round Up / Tin Can Tourist Southwest Rally. We had a GREAT time. Lots of Teardrops, some very old and some new. A half dozen or so Airstreams and alot of vintage TV's. A dozen or so Sister's on the fly were there also, a very nice bunch of gals. From the forum was myself, flyfshr and Kevbo10. We must have had a hundred people stop by to check out my trailer. They had a nice lunch Saturday, a big campfire every night and morning, and coffee was ready at 5 AM. Stan and Mary Schwenke from the Wisconsin WBCCI stopped by also, very nice people. Here are a few photos from the weekend.

The TV in the last picture (on the right) is an old fire engine that the owner restored from a pile of junk basicly. He tows a newer 19 foot Bambi. Like everyone else at the rally, they were all terific people.

Those are so interesting. I like those custom pictures on the trailers on the first set and the combos are truly sharp looking, is that something like a Scamp? On the top left those tiny ones that have the galley in the open back, I saw one of those at the rally in Florida last year, flywheelers. Hard to believe you can sleep inside! Looks like you had a beautiful place for the rally! I wonder if we will have campfires? I am excited to go see the unusual and find out the background on their building. What a treat for the eyes and imagination. Thanks for posting. Are you new to the club then? What's it like?

I have not joined the TCT yet, but I will. This meet was opena a bunch of different types of trailers. The cost to us was $30. That included the $24 entrance fee (2 days / overnight), lunch on Saturday and a very nice welcome package with gifts. We also had coffee and cookies every morning. You can't beet that. The small units are teardrops. Some were from the 40's and some were replicas only a year or two old. You have to look at the name plates to tell the difference. The blue / blue combo is a scamp. My wife and I rented something like it in the early 80's from UHaul. Took it from Phoenix to Mt Rushmore and Yellowstone. Did you check out the 55 Flying Cloud with the whale tail?

Just how rare are those whale tails? Did you get any interior shots? I think location might play a part in the fee schedule. Ours will be quite a bit more but it's close to Detroit. Douglas Keister will be there with his new book release.

I bet that trip to Rushmore and Yellowstone in the small unit was one of your best trips. We've been in those areas and hope to return.
