Antsy McClain and The Trailer Park Troubadours in Gastonia, NC May 10, 2008

May 10, 2008 (SAT) - Gastonia Arts & Crafts Festival, Gastonia, NC
Antsy McClain and the Trailer Park Troubadours - 6 - 8 PM
Rotary Center Pavilion, South and Main Ave., Gastonia, NC (just west of Charlotte off I-85)
FREE to the public!

Gastonia Downtown - Gastonia N.C.

Anyone know if there are campgrounds nearby? We're planning to attend but have not decided to drive up for the day or bring the trailer and make a weekend of it.

Kings Mountain State Park - Blacksburg, SC

I've searched Woodalls, North Carolina state parks and South Carolina state parks for camping within reasonable distance of Gastonia. There are a number of KOA's and other private campgrounds but I'm leaning toward Kings Mountain State Park near Blacksburg, SC. Kings Mountain is about 25 miles from Gastonia.

Details for the state park can be found at Camping - Kings Mountain State Park - South Carolina Parks and you can also reserve sites through Campgrounds and Camping Reservations - ReserveAmerica

Let me know if there are other options.

I've contacted the booking agent for Ansty and the Troubs to see if there could be a Livin' in Aluminum party in the works. I'll keep you posted.

Kings Mtn. State Park

Spent 5 days there last week. I live locally and I don't think you will do any better than there for being close to Gastonia. Bathhouses were clean and the price was right. $18.00 a night water and electric. A lake, kids playground, and lots of hiking trails. Burning bans have been lifted.

Ebeneezer Park - Rock Hill, SC?

There was a suggestion for Ebeneezer Park in Rock Hill, SC. Looks like this is off I-77 south of Charlott. I am not able to open the SC state park web site right now so I'll have to check this out later.

I have been to Ebenezer Park in RH And I would not recommend it to a RAT.
Just my two cents worth.

Gees, Kevin, why are you holding back? Tell us how you really feel! (Just kidding, but now I am curious...)

It would be fun to see them perform, and the thought of a private audience is beyond description. I will be hoping beyond hope that my work schedule will be favorable for this (however, the new policy is only one request at a time, and the family vacation is more important).

Who's Interested in Camping for This Event?

Danielle and I are leaning toward Kings Mountain State Park. It's relatively close to Gastonia and easy for us to drive there off I-85.

Anyone else interested in camping that weekend? We will probably make our reservation this weekend via Campgrounds and Camping Reservations - ReserveAmerica We'll let you know which site number we reserve. There are numerous sites available and many are pull-through. Sites have water and electric with a centrally located dump station.

Lucius, Kings Mountain is a nice area. I'll look forward to a weekend campout there. The loop 1 and loop 4 are more level than the other areas.

Looks like we may head that way. Our Daughter celebrates her 14th but is willing to do so on Friday night instead of Saturday. Both kids are inviting us to go without them. Kings Mountain is about 165 miles so it would work for a Saturday-Sunday trip. I'll check with Beth and post tomorrow or Sunday.

Sounds like a good time.

We Made Our Reservation

We booked site number 92 (30 ft pull through) on loop 4. We will be arriving late Thursday May 8. It will likely be 7 - 8 PM before we get there. If I'm able to leave work early we may arrive a little earlier - we'll see what happens. We'll be departing on Sunday May 11.

Reservations are made online via www.southcarolinaparks or Campgrounds and Camping Reservations - ReserveAmerica If you want detailed information about the park you can call them directly at 803-222-3209 but they will not accept reservations - that must be done online.

Danielle and I saw Antsy and one of the band members in Sweetwater, TN earlier this year. The show was a hoot! All the good Troubadour songs plus some fun slide shows. Pine View Heights really does exist - we saw pictures of the main entrance to the trailer park. What a blast! We're looking forward to another good show.

Find your best polyester outfit - get it cleaned and pressed (do you need to do that with polyester?) - wear it to the show - Gastonia won't know what hit 'em.

Sounds like fun! Sadly, I will definitely not make it.

I just found out that I will probably be flying out to Seattle to help convert my parents bath/shower to a walk-in/sit-down shower.

I got a screen-grab of the loop four sites, and while it doesn't really show much, maybe someone can see what sites they want.

BTW, I do not have a polyester suit...

We reserved spot 47 in loop 2 for Fri and Sat nights. Can't wait to see the show (first timers) and ride the roller coaster known as I-85 (no first timers).

No polyester here, either.

Rally Graphic

Well... I'm trying my hand at making a rally graphic and I don't quite know how to get it uploaded. I'm trying to link it to this post then have a moderator add it to the rally rotation. Last minute I know. But thought I'd give it a try.

Nice graphic - we'll get it loaded in the next day or so.

Is This a Rally?

The moderators took time to put our thread in the Forum Rallies category and I also filled out information on the rally event page http://www.airforums.com/forums/cale...5-8;&e=430&c=1

While this may not be the usual rally gathering I guess anything can be a rally - even a rally of 1. As of now, I think there are 3, maybe 4, Airstreams attending. If you plan to attend go the link above and indicate you will be attending the event.

Anyone is welcome to camp with us - an Airstream is not a requirement. For that matter you don't even have to camp although that's much of the fun. Drive in for the day, come to the show, have a good time.

Meet the Band After the Show?

I received word from a member of the Troubadours they would like to get together with us if possible. Antsy and the band have tight schedule that weekend. They are arriving Saturday afternoon just prior to the show and will be leaving on Sunday to return home. If there is time during that period they will gladly meet/talk to us.
