This is a self-service, very loosely defined rally for the weekend of October 16-17-18, 2009. Depending on how many attend there's a possibility of getting together for a meal on Friday (evening), Saturday (morning or noon) or Sunday (morning). The only planned event at this time is attending the Antsy McClain and Trailer Park Troubadours show held on Saturday night, October 17, at the John Hardin High School Performing Arts Center in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
Tickets prices are $20 each (for the show only) or $30 each (including a special Guatemalan dinner before the show). This show is a fund-raising program for Living Waters for Guatemala sponsored by the Elizabethtown Rotary Foundation. Ticket information is available from Bob Swope, Rotary member, at bob.swope@kvnet.org
We are staying at Elizabethtown Crossroads Campground (formerly a KOA I think). Their web site is http://www.elizabethtowncrossroadscampgroundky.com/ The campground has bluegrass pickin' party on Friday Night so bring your instruments if you are so inclined.
Information about the John Hardin High School Performing Arts Center can be found at http://www.thepac.net/ However, tickets for the show are not available through this web site. See the email address shown above for ticket information.
We're planning to visit The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green Kentucky www.corvettemuseum.com when driving to Elizabethtown from the south
Fort Knox is not open to visitors but there is a museum on the gounds. I think the museum centers on General Patton http://www.knox.army.mil/PattonMuseum/

Reason: adding rally graphic
Bob Swope (mentioned in post above) contacted me by email and told me about the Swope's Cars of Yesteryear Museum. This looks like a very fun and informative museum. It's in Elizabethtown and it's FREE. Be sure to check out the museum if you have time. www.swopemuseum.com The museum is open M - F, 10 - 5 (closed Sunday).

P.S. Bob also provided a PDF copy of the concert poster but I have not been able to upload a PDF for some reason. I'll try again another time.

This is pretty cool. We may be relocating to the Fort Knox/Elizabethtown area in the next year or so. Already planning a punkin chuckin rally for Morton, IL that weekend, but if it doesn't happen we will try to make it!
If you haven't seen Antsy in person... there is no way to describe the show, it's just great! We have seen them several times over the years, and will be attending this show I am sure. The crossroads park is nice, my parents stayed there a few years ago when we lived in town, we were about 2 miles from there. They have stayed in a lot of RV parks and were happy there. YMMV. I doubt we will camp for the rally, as it's farther to the campground then to the concert..lol.
EDIT: also, the POI's you link are all good too.. the Glendale crossing festival is one of the highest rated community festivals in the state. Also, Mammoth Cave and the cave area (this link is a commercial type site) is just south of here. Most of Patton museum is slated to move to Ft. Benning in the future, so it may be one of your last chances to see the Armor Museum while it is still at the home of armor.

The web site for the museum is incorrect. Consequently there is a mistake in the post above

Okay... this time I was able to upload the PDF file for the poster. Our forum software does not make a thumbnail of PDF files so you'll have to click on it to open the file or download the file.

I sent my check to Bob Swope earlier this week and I already received the tickets for the pre-show dinner and concert. Bob was very appreciative of the support and he is hoping the Airstream community will come out to see the event.
So all you lurkers... you know who you are... go ahead and sign up for the rally or consider taking a day trip (evening trip) to Elizabethtown to see the show. When you purchase tickets be sure to tell Bob you are with the AirForums group.
Dakota's Dad - we'd love to meet you even if you're not camping. Send a PM and we can get together sometime that weekend. Breakfast at the campgound? Meet at your favorite place to eat? Other?

I was checking out the Antsy McClain and the Trailer Park Troubadours website at www.unhitched.com when I stumbled on a nice video recorded at the E-town concert in 2008. Go to the web site and then click on Watch theVideo below the picture of Antsy. Or, you may be able to go directly to the video at the link below:
Be sure to watch part 2 of the video too. Antsy and the Troubs put on a great show! Watch this clips and you'll be infected (if you're not already). I can't wait!

Well, found out we may not be in town, we have to go to Kansas City that week, and won't head home until Saturday morning, but we rarely miss a concert at the PAC, so we will be trying not to be to exausted from the drive home from KC..
edit: thats some good video there, but it's nowhere near what they are like in concert!!!

Three weeks to go! I received a reply from Antsy McClain and he is excited about the AirForums rally. I wish there was more activity on this thread - if we had more interest we could approach Antsy about doing something special for our group.

Sorry you missed the Wilds due to flooding. We would love to make this event. Unfortunately I bought tickets to Tampa that weekend to finally meet my younger brother and sister. If another one of these comes up, then we will do our best to make it.
Anyhow it can't really be a rally unless two trailer are there!
I was wondering if one trailer qualified as a rally but now there are two of us. The excitement is building. I made a reservation at the campground and the person on the phone indicated they are hosting a a flea market that weekend. Could be interesting...
This show is going to be great! Definitely worth the drive.

We're at Crossroads, where is everybody? Oh yeah, the Antsy Rally is next month.
We're at the campground now for a few days as we do some sightseeing, check out some "old home" places in Radcliff and Vine Grove, and take in a BBQ competition in Springfield, KY.
We just got in today and are heading towards Bardstown for the day tomorrow. Sorry we won't be able to hang around for the Antsy rally.
Crossroads campground is having a pig roast this Saturday. That sounds interesting.
