Hi Myrna

There's nothing to it. You'll use your regular power cord plus a little adapter for plugging into a standard 120v AC plug (pick one up at Wal-Mart or any RV store). The "3 amps" simply means that although you're plugged into AC, the amount of juice you can use is very limited. You'll be sharing a single 15 amp circuit with three other trailers, so everyone gets 3.75 amps max.

That means no AC appliances (think microwave, air conditioner, toaster, etc.) But the power will be enough to keep your batteries charged. Anything that runs on 12v DC power will be fine to use during the event.

To keep electrical draw low, we ask everyone who can to run their refrigerators on the "GAS" setting only (not "AUTO").

This sort of shared electric system usually works out just fine at rallies. But if you have a need to run some sort of AC appliance (like a CPAP machine), you should opt for the "Generator" section instead.

See you there!

- Rich

Cpap

Hi Rich and all,
I run a CPAP every night. I am pretty sure that it will run at least 3-4 nights on 12v. If there are others out there that have to have a CPAP they may need to look up a 12v. adapter that will allow them to plug it into the 12v. outlets. Mine cost about $25. but it is well worth the cost. My manual says:
AC power consumption is 1 amp.
DC power on 12 v. is 3.0 amp maximum.

Rich,
Thanks for the clarification. I'll head to WM today and look.

We have 83 Trailers signed up now! Are you one of the 83? Why not??

There is going to be at least on Bowlus, maybe two! We are going to have lots of fun and what a way to start your summer travel.

Remember you can have service done at the plant while you are there, all you need to do is make a service reservation with the service center and they will be happy to fix any issue you have.

Look forward to seeing you there!

CPAP on DC

I also have a cpap machine and Have not been able to get trough a single night on the battary only. I have used both an inverter and the DC adapter. I'm hoping that the 3 amps will be enought to get me through the night. Thought I would let you know abou my experience.

Has anything been advertised about "day passes" for the Alumapalooza event for those who can only spend a day there?

We have a "walk-in (not camping)" rate for people who are spending their nights elsewhere. It includes full access to everything, including seminars, barbecue, entertainment, and door prizes, and it is good for the entire week. It's $60 per adult and you can register for it through alumapalooza.com

Meant to mention with my question that I will not have my Airstream with me. Only want to visit Alumapoolza as a walk in for one day.

Anyone can just drop in to browse the camping area and visit for a day, but without a badge you won't have access to seminars, door prizes, dinner, entertainment, etc.

If you don't want to pay for a walk-in badge, I'd suggest coming the public open house on Saturday morning. That's free to all.

I am the point of contact so if anyone has any ideas or suggestions please post them here. If we handled it like a rally happy hour - bring your own chair, beverage and a dish that would be the easiest way.

Again thanks Rich for helping us have an organized space to meet at.

Hello all my schedule has changed I can't make the 01 June date. I am looking to have a point of contact on the ground for Rich. Would anyone be able to do this?
Thanks,

I know there is still a bit of time . . . just a little over two months away. And more planning to be done. But when will a tentative schedule of be posted for this event? Word on the street is it's a jam packed event. Will there be enough time for one person to attend everything?

We are still very excited to attend. And planning a three week road trip around it. A week up. A week there. A week to return home. Mr. Rivet keeps reminding me that I am not allowed to run in the factory when we get there!
