Alumafiesta 2013

Rich Luhr has recently announced a third yearly rally event called Alumafiesta. It will be held in Tuscon February 5-10, 2013. We had decided to end our yearly trips to Alumapalooza and on to Michigan, so this is a new place for us to go. Last time I was in Tuscon, it was in the 1990s, I was pulling a Scamp 5th wheel, and I was returning from the railroad trip at Copper Canyon, Mexico.

There are a limited number of spaces available. Tuscon is close enough to southern California that spaces may go fast, so I signed up immediately.

Good chance for me to revisit the Pima Air Museum, as well.

Oooh, this looks tempting. My wife and I are still Airstream wannabees, and we've been unable to make it to 'palooza or 'fandango, but this one just might fit onto the calendar. Anyone got suggestions for nearby lodging? Or (in my dreams probably) someone with an AS to rent to us for the week?!!!? Come on, we're nibbling -- someone set the hook! We've got a connection in Tucson that I could probably ask to put us up for a few days, but that wouldn't be nearly as fun as staying on site and getting fully indoctrinated, would it?

Signed up! Finally, after almost 8 years--including a year full-timing--we're getting to our first rally! Talk about procrastination...

Now 4 months ought to be enough time to find just the right Airstream. If not at least you will be well on your way to finding the right one for you. Good luck. I hope that you make it there, with or without your Airstream.

This event is at least on our wish list. Does anyone know if there is internet or at least cell phone coverage at this event or in the campground? If we made it to this event, we would need to be working, so cell phone and internet access (decent access to Verizon would work) is critical.

Tucson Rally

Lasydays is located on the south side of Tucson. Plenty of cell phone coverage. I do not know whether they have WIFI at the campground.

According to Verizon's coverage map Lazydays RV, where Alumafiesta is being held, has 4G coverage. You'll be wired!

We are signed up and ready for warmth, activities and shiny objects...

Really looking forward to seeing Pima aircraft again, plus car museum and historic Tucson... Only challenge will be finding intermediate stop Sunday to watch 49ers in Super Bowl somewhere east of LA.. Bringing bike, camera, swim trunks and serious desire to unwind...
