Carbondale, IL (a little over an hour's drive from Cape on scenic roads) has a small restaurant called Melange. We haven't been there so we don't have first hand experience. A friend who knows that Laird is a BBQ judge mentioned that Melange has a BBQ Tofu under their "Olde Southern BBQ" menu selections. Laird hasn't come across any Tofu entries in competitions yet -- that he knows of.

Right under the BBQ tofu is "Old Fashioned Fried Bologna." Link to Malange: Grill Menu

The exact sauce that Shemwell's makes isn't bottled, but there is a very similar sauce sold in stores in our area. The Sauce is marketed under the name: Cairo Bar-B-Que Sauce. Shemwell's does, however, sell their barbecue by the pound with sauce in quantity.

The sauce is made with tomato juice, vinegar, and horse radish among other ingredients -- it is very spicy -- and quite delicious (IMHO).

Hey everyone,

I have plans finalized with the caterer, and here is what we will be having.

Shrimp

Mixed green salad with dressing and bread

Gazpacho

Squash ala Turque (Squash with African spices)

French Fries

NY Strip Steaks (8-10 Oz)

Charlotte Marie Antoinette for dessert

This morning I received a message from fltlevel510 inquiring about the rally. I have messaged them back to call me so we can get them registered. Since the park and caterer relaxed on registration times, we are able to take them for a few more days providing they register with paypal.

Things are looking great.

Steve

Those look really nice, and cool that Pee Wee has his own. We'll put it in the window with ours.

Steve

On Edit: There is still time to sign up for this rally. As long as you send via paypal, we can register you up to the weekend. You may not get a placard with your name printed on it, but you will still get to attend and have a good time.

Coffee Talk

Today we received a shipment from Silver Joe's Coffee. Coffee and some stuff to give away at the rally. Really nice people, and great product from what I have had in the past. They sent a nice mixture of coffee including Vanilla Cream, Organic Decaf, House Blend, Kona Blend, French Roast, Espresso Roast, Hazelnut, and Mocha Java.
Do we have people attending this event that are NOT coffee drinkers?

Steve
