Thanks, someday I'll get them stitched out. The machine was taken to the shop last monday. So far I haven't heard anything. Bummer since tomorrow and thurs I am going to a 2 day embroidery event at the babylock dealer. If I see something really cool to try I don't have anything to play with right now.
Today I was contacted by the Cape Girardeau Visitor's Bureau about the caravan out of Cape. The parks and recreation service is authorizing us to use the Park grounds as a departure point, and as an overnight camping spot if anyone desires it so. There are clean public restrooms at the park, but no hook ups. Generators would be allowed.
I am considering this myself depending on how the weather is. If it is hot and I cannot find a generator to borrow, then we will likely find a camping spot somewhere with electric. If it is cool enough at night we will probably camp out. Most of all I want all of us to be comfy.
For those of us arriving the evening before, I would like to know if you are interested in taking in a few sites around Cape the evening of the 10th or morning of the 11th. I am planning for a departure time from Cape of 1100 to 1200. Everything in Cape is close, so we could take in a few things before the departure.
A nice gesture from the city is that the Cape police will stop traffic in all directions as we depart Cape and head over the bridge. This allows us to travel without worry of losing someone.
Now is also the time I would like people to start considering potluck dishes for Friday night. Theme being the late 1950's in honor of the time period. Retro dress scores extra points and a prize
I would love to boondock in the park, have generator will travel. Steve, my generator has two receptacles. If we don't use over 7 amps each (fans and lights OK) we could share. If it's too hot to do without A/C at night we'd have to rethink it. I'm all for taking at look at the sights in Cape as well. I hope to be there by Thursday afternoon.
I know Airstreams have been known to stop traffic, but this is too cool. If only we had the police holding traffic at the lights for the Washington DC caravan.
I know my Mom has tons of cookbooks from the '50s. Lots of Pillsbury Bake-Off books and the ubiquitous Betty Crocker Cookbook circa 1957, a staple of every suburban '50s home. I'm bound to find something there.
OOhh! Retro dress could be fun. Time to start looking through my patterns and maybe find some vintage ones. Just got the call that my emb machine is fixed. I should get to play this evening.
woo hoo!
Steve
I had a little extra time today to try a menu for the trip.... I know this is not the final menu but I wanted to see if I was in the ballpark as to what you had in mind..

To be consistent it seems like Cape(town) Giradeau should always include the name or abbreviation of the state - Missouri (MO); just as Cairo includes the name or abbreviation of the state - Illinois (IL).
Otherwise the flyer, pamplets, trinkets might be construed that both locations are in Illinois.
