Nothing as glamourous as Panama City and St. Andrews but we are going to some friend's place at Lake Brownwood - about an hour from us.
What makes this such a monumental event is that this will be our maiden voyage in our new 2007 31' Classic we picked up just last month.
Two years ago we were making this same maiden voyage in our 2000 30' Classic we had only 29 days when we totaled the trailer about 25 miles from our house. Thankfully, neither one of us were hurt and we still don't know what caused the accident for sure but we still lean toward a defective valve stem as the culprit.
We have owned two other Airstreams since that time - a 1992 Squarestream and a 2006 30' Classic. The 2006 Classic was totaled by one of our famous Texas hailstorms in February of this year.
We are dedicated Airstream owners, even though we've not had very good luck with them, and look forward to many years of happy camping in our 2007 Classic starting with this 4th of July.

We will be heading to Ohiopyle SP in southwestern PA. We went last year over the fourth and had a great time so we are heading back. No fireworks, but lots of scenic areas, wild water and nature. Close to Fallingwater the famous and well worth seeing Frank Lloyd Wright home. This year we plan on visiting another Wright home in the area, Kentuck Knob. Also has a super rail trail on which I look forward to riding my recumbent bike. I hope everyone has a great time over the holiday!

We're going to go to a friend's in San Dimas, so we can change out their a/c, as well as the one on Bertha. Theirs doesn't work very well, and ours is on borrowed time ever since before we started living in the trailer.

Alas, the 'Landyacht' will remain home for the 4th...we'll change over to the 'Riveryacht' here in Northern Calif's Delta River wonderland...
Here, not far from Lodi, CA, out on the San Joaquin River, Baron Hilton's family brings in a large barge full of fireworks for all that 'boat-in' to enjoy each 4th of July...he established a duck club on the river, many years ago, and it's the center of activity for the family's invited guests that are flown in and shuttled out to the river on Hilton's Helicopter...
In it's hey-day, Hilton's private duck club entertained all varieties of celebs during hunting season...there's even a bell jar on the back bar that covers the last bottle of booze that Clark Gable re-portably drank from...
It's kind of a 'zoo' the evening of the 4th, out there on the river, as there have been as many as 3,000 boats anchored and nestled to the shores to await the BIG show...many go a few days early to get a prime spot and party, hardy in the hot summer weather we are enjoying this time of year, with the cool river to dive into when needed....

Torch Lake
Rated the third most beautiful lake in the world by National Geographic. The water is crystal clear, and the lake is one of Michigan's largest, spanning some 18 miles and reaching depths of over 300 feet.

We'll be staying home, BBQ'ing on the patio for family, and planting Emma Grace's tree in the back yard. (She's two!)

We are going to Topsail Hill State Park in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. We have been there many times and is a beautiful park with pretty blue water and white sand . Hope to see some other streamers there.

Yellowstone and Grand Teton with our 10-year old granddaughter. Terrific. No problem getting a reservation at Flagg Ranch either.

We're heading LDRS 28 in the finger lakes. That's "Large and Dangerous Rocket Ships", probably the biggest rocket launch of the year. Great spectator sport for free if your close! Several BIG (20 foot) tall rockets will be flying to 20,000'.

Oh, I wish we could say we were going anywhere, but it ain't gonna happen until we quit the campground business. (But we still do have our hopes up for a trip to RM VAC at the beginning of August! Anybody want to park-sit while we're gone? It's only a 24/7 job.)
