'08 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Fest

-caveat: I'm biased. I do a booth here, usually, and in my opinion, this is the single BEST event during which to visit New Orleans, including Mardi Gras. So start making your plans to attend! The music is without comparision (the best), like the food (the best), and the people (the friendliest). Here's the official website where you can see whose playing:

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival | April 25 - May 4, 2008

and check out the details... I have a call in to my bandmate Rockstar Rob Savoy, who works for the fest, about any tips regarding Airstream parking, but in a basic websearch I found this site that has fairly up-to-date reviews of local parking spots:

campgroundreviews.com :: New Orleans, Louisiana

..and I would guess that if you arrived early enough and were boondock-able you could just park in a local secure parking lot for around $20 per day and go for it. If I had more room I'd offer some free parking but I'm afraid we only have 6" to spare out behind the Safari. Oh wait, I just had a brainstorm regarding my neighborhood parking lot...I will have to go talk to these guys and see if we can cut a deal...

..I will be posting any updates I can gather. Bottom line is: if you're curious about visiting New Orleans (and YES, we need you!) this is THE event to come for...

Is the best party I have ever been to. I have been at least 3 years. Thought about taking the trailer this year, but will be lucky if I get the time to make a weekend there (you are about 1000 miles from here). If you get a situation arranged for parking PM me, I have some friends in Baton Rouge who might be interested.

OK Jim, how do we do a list? I'm up for that. Also found a listing for the "KOA West" which is out on Jefferson Hwy, looks like a decent spot:

RV Parks New Orleans

their "about us" page has a map and directions.

The jazzfest trav dept suggested this French Quarter rv site:

French Quarter RV Resort Home Page, camping in New Orleans French Quarter at our RV park near Bourbon Street and Harrahs Casino

Get ready for food, music, fun.

I guess we just ask. It is not really a rally, more like if you are in town we would like to get together and say Hi so let us know if you are attending the Jazz Fest and we can try to make something happen. We could start another thread with a survey to find out who will attend and which dates. I know Phil Gobie plans to attend not sure which weekend.

Smile I'll be there in spirit, in the economy tent second lining!

Wish I could be there to hear Fredie Lonzo on the trombone and
Dr. Michael White singing Papa Celestine's "Marie La Veau"...
"there lived a conjure lady, not long ago in New Orleans Louisiana named Marie La Veau, believe it or not, strange as it seems, she made a fortune selling voodoo and interpreting dreams...way down yonder in New Orleans..." I love Dixieland music!!

Folks its worth the fuel and calories to go to that jazz fest, been there and going again some day soon!! Laissez les bon temps rouler!

Won't be able to attend the Jazz Festival, but New Orleans is still a great town - just back from the Krewe of Caesar Parade in Jefferson Parish.

Hail Caesar!

Had bad weather roll in tonight and 3 parades were canceled. Two will reschedule which means tomorrow night and I believe Sunday will have 4 parades back to back rolling down St. Charles and Canal street. My son marched in the Jesuit band last Saturday if you look at my picture site you will see a few pictures.

Hello all! We have reservations at the KOA West for Jazz Fest. Would love to meet up. Haven’t stayed there before, is there a shuttle into Fest site? We will be there a few days ahead to figure out the plan.
