Cub Scout Concours d'Elegance

It appears that the judges for the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby have some very keen and discerning eyes. They bestowed upon Donal's, Vintage Thunder, Jr., the highly prestigious "Judges Favorite" award.

This was Donal's first foray into the highly competitive world of the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby. A field of 50 highly engineered, well tuned blocks of wood constructed by young boys aged 6- to 10-years old greeted him when he arrived. 50 entries, each raced 4 times on 4 lanes gave us all many hours of fun and enjoyment. When reached for comment afterward during a well deserved celebratory slice of pizza, our 6-year old hero had this to say, "It's so COOL! I didn't think I would win anything!" After signing autographs (for the waitress) young Donal bid his adoring fan[s] (the now well-tipped waitress) a fond adieu.

Donal wants to thank all the people who helped him this year -- especially J. Rick Cipot of the NEU (rickandsandi) who (has always) provided much technical and moral support (and power tools). Many Saturday mornings earlier this year were spent at Rick and Sandi's house designing, cutting, shaping, sanding, etc. Rick's daughter Sarah also deserves special mention for her expertise and skill in creating those spectacular propane tanks. Thanks Sarah!

Who all is up there now?

Did you get a bonfire going?

We need ALL of the incriminating evidence.

And exactly how much does a "Sled Marshal" get paid?

Just checked out the pics, great shots. It looks like you had a great time up there, loved the 2 fisted beer drinking shot of A We were stuck in Boston overnight Friday so decided what better thing to do on St Patties but visit an Irish Pub in Boston for some Guinness on draft. No snow on the Cape to speak of so nothing needed shoveling when we returned. Did have to clean up a tree that snapped off by the driveway, must of had high winds.

Looks like it was a fun outing to go to, thanks for sharing.
