What Rules?

In another thread on, "Why did you Leave WBCCI?", there was a poll. On the poll there was a response, "Too many rules" . I'm a member of WBCCI and two local clubs. We have rules.....?

What rules would they be speaking of? Please no complaining, no whinning, just tell me what "rules" they might be talking about? True they were polling people that left. AND they likely weren't happy. ….. or they'd have stayed. But people come and go in any organization. But for the life of me I can't recall any "rules."

There are actually rules of WBCCI and then Clubs certainly have (based on what we read here) their own set of rules or maybe just operating procedures that they go by.

We also would not have known (about so many rules) as in the 4CU Unit the rules just seem to be meet, greet, eat, sip, sit (by the fire) and have fun.

Maybe we should look them up (The Rules) and actually post them in this thread.

Sometimes it seems more of a people blending in with each other or not. Somebody took an affront to how they were approached or not welcomed or not. Some groups like to drink more than others. Some have a morning prayer meeting. Some like to dictate where you park. Some units welcome new members with open arms and some of them get cliquish.

Anytime you've got people you're going to have people problems.

Only rules I can think of are rules covering business meetings and unit compliance with national. Not a big deal. No deal at all unless you are an officer.

When I first joined 10 years ago there were more rules governing meetings, Roberts Rules of Order. We even wore our blue berets. Not so much nowadays. We are encoucouraged to wear our badges but you are not going to get a pie in the face if you don't.

Not a real rule but politics and religion can cause chafed elbows.

My ideal unit would have younger and older people in it, not a lot of politics, and about half drinkers and non drinkers. Some retired and some not. And at least 3 guitar players. When I find it, I’ll join.

Sounds like the Razorback Unit. Well the drinkers to non-drinkers may be more like 90/10, but the rest sounds about right. Oh and no politics.

We were required to take a pledge, including that of allegiance to the WBCCI and to not disparage them in any way.

That’s really not an effective way to silence critics, but they tried.

True, don’t ask where, we didn’t renew after the first year, the unit dissolved a few years later.

In the Oregon is unit, I think they want you to have a Airstream. But they will welcome you with a SOB if you want to check out whether the club and AS lifestyle might be a fit. And there is wine. But you don’t have to indulge.
