Vintage Airstream Club - Pre-Parade Gathering in Bozeman MT
All VAC members are invited to the VAC Pre-Parade gathering in Bozeman MT on June 26th, 2008. VAC has reserved 60 campsites at the Bozeman KOA for Thursday night, June 26, 2008. The cost for a KOA site will be $47. All sites will have at least water and electricity and some will get sewer hookup also (first come-first served). Wireless internet, clean restrooms and a dump station are available also. Water features abound, with two mountain streams winding through the campground. Enjoy a dip in the newly built swimming pool and hot tub. Let the kids cool off in the splash park. Right next door, enjoy a comforting soak in the Bozeman Hot Springs. Its nine pools vary in warmth up to a joint-soothing 106 degrees. We also plan on having an introductory VAC Happy Hour in the late afternoon at this campground.
This is in preparation for our parade into the WBCCI rally site the next morning on Friday, June 27th. If you wish to park in the Vintage Airstream Club area at the International Rally, the easiest way to do so is to be part of the parade. If you do not parade in with the Vintage group you may be parked elsewhere on the rally grounds as WBCCI normally does not give you a choice of parking spot. Our vintage parking area will be sized to accommodate the number of trailers that sign up for the parade.
The 3 amp and 30 amp International WBCCI Rally Vintage parking will be near each other again this year on the campus of Montana State University. Some of vintage parking may be on grass and some will be on a parking lot. Montana will not allow wash water on the ground so bring your “blue boy”. WBCCI will provide us with a wash water disposal tank nearby our parking area. There are few campgrounds in the Bozeman area that were big enough to accommodate the size of our group so we reserved these KOA spots early and will come close to filling this campground for this night.
If you wish to participate in the pre-parade night at the KOA, then parade into the International Rally and park in the VAC’s vintage area, then fill out the info below and send me a check to cover your reservation. The cutoff date for a reservation at the KOA is April 25, 2008. You will be able to cancel your reservation up to June 15th but KOA will charge a $10 cancellation fee. Cancel by contacting Herb Spies herb.spies@gmail.com or 850-651-1074
Thanks for the information, I have printed the form and a check will be in the mail tomorrow.
Bill

"Is the VAC parking area at the university only for parade participants?"
The answer is no. Vintage Airstream Club parking at Bozeman is not closed just to the parade participants. Its just that the parade is the easiest way to get to the vintage area. Remember there will be 1000 to 1500 trailers parked around the campus during the rally. In past years I've tried beforehand to find the Vintage area and it seemed to be a secret or that they hadn't decided early on where to put the vintage units. I've already talked to the WBCCI President this year and they have a tentative spot picked for us. We do have to tell them about how many units will be in the Vintage area.
Usually WBCCI parks arriving trailers in order of arrival. The VAC parade is like an arriving caravan so all parade participants are parked together. You will probably be able to be parked in the VAC area if you arrive at another time. We have a scheduled "caravan" arrival of Jun 27th at 10AM. The WBCCI parking crew will come over the night of the 26th to the KOA and complete all the check in paperwork so we will just drive or parade in to our parking area on the rally grounds.
See you in Bozeman!
Herb

I put the check in the mail today. It's a 6500 mile round trip without side trip mileage. Big $$$$ just in gas. Looking forward to coming!

Whew-wee, man! If my 5th grade math serves me right, I ciphered out that if your TV gets on average 10 mpg, (to keep the math simple, plus that's probably what I average with my dodge), you need 650 gals of fuel X $3.10/gal = $2,015, is that right?!
To take off from one other's quote that a journey of a thousand mile begins with a cash advance, this journey begins with a loan from the bank!
Herb- I appreciate the work you're doing to organize this and get the word out, see you at the Pig Roast Rally.
Hello- as we are a little new to the WBCCI (only having attended a very small boon-docking rally with the WDCU) we are interested in joining the VAC but are not sure if that overrides our WDCU membership? If it does not override our WDCU membership than we would like to join VAC. On another note- we have a general question regarding registration for the INTl. rally- we have friends that are going to caravan out there with us in one of our trailers (they are not WBCCI members since they do not own their own airstream) how do I register them for the rally? We have not done any registration yet- because we are only going to visit with the rally for a few days- but the Vintage Parade sounds wonderful and hopefully we will be in our '61 and our friends will be in out '67. Thanks to anyone who can help answer these questions.

No, VAC Membership does not override your Unit Membership. The VAC is an Intra-Club which is like a special interest group - not a Unit. You still retain your membership affiliation & vote through your Unit.

I am doing the same thing...we are taking both of our trailers and my parents are going with us. When I sent our registration for the Rally, I just wrote a note with it explaining that we are members and bringing two trailers/4 adults and paid the appropriate Rally fees. I got a nice note back saying that they will give the second trailer a temporary number as the system they use can only accept one trailer per membership - but it's not a problem at all.
As far as camping with the VAC and participating in the parade...no problem, just let us know how many trailers/people through Herb and the sign-up info in Post #1 of this thread. Hope to see you there!

My check for the VAC pre-parade camp site was just mailed to you this morning. This looks to be another great WBCCI & VAC event. I love making an "entrance" into International surrounded by my VAC friends. Can't wait!

Thank you so much for all the information. We will be joining the VAC and will send the money and registration form to Herb tomorrow for the KOA night. I will also put our international rally registration in the mail with a note explaining the situation. I assume there will be information on joining the VAC on the link you provided me with- I will look into that as work permits this afternoon.
After only joining the Airforums a few weeks ago and all ready feeling like we have found so many like minded friends - this community affirms are belief that Airstreamers are just such nice people!

I will be placing our VAC registration in the mail tomorrow, along with our registration and payment for the pre-parade vintage night at the Bozeman KOA. We are looking forward to both the rally and the parade! Is there any way we can get ahold of some flags for our trailers? I know we can order blue AS ones from the factory and I will get in touch with someone in the WDCU for unit flags- but are there any flags for the VAC?
