I and other members of the VAC are starting to work on a "East Coast Vintage Rally". We are thinking of holding it in the Blue Ridge Mountains (off I-81) in Virginia, the 3rd weekend of June, 2008. We feel Virginia is a good "central" location allowing many more people to attend than could if it was held in the north or south east. Thoughts are, laid back camping, music, workshops, slideshow/movies, door prizes, etc... and who knows, maybe even a few surprises. Before going and trying to secure the "secret location" (where some great Blue Grass is played on the front porch of the General Store) high in the Virginia mountains, I wanted to see the interest of both WBCCI and non-WBCCI members for such an event. Again, we are in the planning stages and things are still a little up in the "air". Thoughts?? Suggestions??

I'd be very interested. Having a rally of just vintage trailers would be great, but would it be sectioned off into camps like international? Argosy there, restored there, renovated/redesigned over there?
Hopefully it would be mixed.
Great idea. Virginia is a good location.
Keep in mind that the big region 1 rally is in PEI next year, which is a good haul for us in lower new england.

Very interested, but.
School schedules affected by snow days might get in the way and we haven't yet ruled out the idea of going to Bozeman. I think it's a great idea nonetheless though.
I have a 1962, can I come? Oh,yeh, I'm a VAC member too... Count us in. Are the dates for the International the last week of June? School in Md usually ends around the second week of june.... might be cutting it close to the rally time. Don't overlook West Virginia... that is the most under valued state in this country and also very central.
Hope all is well with you and the DC Unit. Melanie and I had a great time joining you for the Perry Caravan and would very much like to come out for this one next June. Please keep us in the loop.
Finally finished up the Travelall this August (see attached). Took the rig to Jackson Center and the IH Nats in Springfield.
An East Coast Vintage meet would be good. Location is OK. Timing will be difficult for teachers and parents as schools now extend into late June. New England is still one days drive from the middle east coast and is friendlier to vintage trailers without air conditioning. I am interested and will look for further updates about your plans.
Gary
The location we are currently working on "would not" require the use of AC during the day. Reason, it's at about 2500-3500 feet above sea level, no bugs!! Cool days even in late June. Reason for the dates, most if not all will be out of school, it still gives people time to get to International. The average temp it about 77-81 during the day and 54-58 at night, record high 95, record low 30.
Paul, the Travelall looks GREAT!!

When we plan the RMVAC, we don't publish any information on it until we have concrete plans of when and where. A pre-mature announcement without any crucial information will create confusion. Remember, if you plan it, they will come! Please choose another time frame as not to interfere with the International. Please consider those of us who live thousands of miles away who might want to come. But, hey, we want to do it all, the International, the RMVAC, and an East Coast VAC. The year has 50 other weeks in it choose from. If I may make a suggestion, have a Eastern VAC Rally in conjuction with the Cherry Blossom Rally. Great Scott!! Two great rallies for the price of driving to ONE! That's a great idea!
