I'll start a new thread as this one is probably getting overloaded with photos. The new thread has photos of "the predecessor of the original Airstream." We found it parked in front of an antique store in La Veta, and while it wasn't part of the rally it was put there specifically to entertain Airstreamers.

2001 = 15 Trailers
2002 = 26 Trailers
2003 = 40 trailers/90 people!
2004 = Will you be there? No firm plans yet...but we will advise ASAP

BTW...Randy Hedges won the Silent Auction for the banner with a very generous bid!

Sorry we missed you! We got caught in a hail storm on the way down Saturday afternoon... didn't get there 'til late, but we got a few 'tours' anyway. We won't be late next time - it was great!

Anybody know about the rally in Loveland coming up soon?

Friday, Sat, Sun -- August 15, 16, 17. Loveland RV Village, 4421 E. Highway 34, Loveland, CO, 888-571-3350.

Call Armin or Janie Lichtfuss at 970-587-4030 to see if there are still sites available with the WBCCI group.

Directions: I-25 to Exit 259B, US 34 west to Loveland RV Village, on north side of highway. Check in time is 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Pay for site fee at the office - $24.82 per night plus $2.25 for each extra person.

Typically, the Denver Unit WBCCI Rallies do not have a dedicated "Open House" like the VAC Rallies. However, there are always folks hanging around willing to talk to wanna-bes and admirers...oftentimes, you'll be invited inside.

If we're there, we'll always welcome visitors...but we're not sure we're going to make it to this one having just got home from La Veta Tuesday evening (rally starts Friday)...gotta work sometime!

As mentioned earlier in this thread, NBC Nightly News sent a film crew to the 2003 Rocky Mountain VAC Rally to film a segment on Vintage Airstreams. Mario, Scott & Andre hung out all weekend filming & interviewing...we took Maxwell, to a local park to film the last 13 seconds with Roger O'Neil, the "talent" this afternoon.

Roger confirmed that our VAC Rally segment will air Friday, August 15th at 5:30-6:00 MDT, check your local
listings.

The entire segment is only about 2 minutes...so don't blink!

Looks like the blackout pre-empted the coverage of our glimpse of the La Veta rally. Bummer (all the way around)!!! Any word on when they might reschedule the airplay of the Rally segment? Told several people to watch, so hope to get the word~~so none of us miss it. Leigh

I guess NBC found the "little blackout" more newsworthy than our rally...

I have a call into the producer (in NY) to find out when it will be rescheduled...I'll pass along whatever I find out!

I spoke with the producer in NY this morning, they have rescheduled the segment to air this Friday the 22nd, at 5:30-6:00 MDT, check your local listings. Again it's supposed to be at the end of the the NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw...kind of a "have a good weekend" segment...hopefully no more crisis will preempt us...

Well...I just found out NBC bumped us again...now it's supposed to air on Monday, August 25th...Do you think NBC is just trying to up their number of viewers?

Basically, if you are interested, just watch the NBC Nightly News EVERY night 'til it airs!

I just e-mailed NBC Nightly News. I told them how disappointed we were having sat thru 2 of their shows with no Airstream footage of the VAC Rally. It probably doesn't mean much to them.
We stop our work, ran home, like everyone else now disappointed

Oh well, we had a great time at the rally anyways. Maybe next year we could invite Tom Brokaw to come in person. What a story!

Mario has been very nice & apologetic each time we have spoken. He said that because of this last delay, his boss is allowing him to add more time/footage to the story! So as I figure it, if it keeps getting rescheduled, before long we'll end up being the feature story!
