Vintage Airstream Club - 2004 Rocky Mountain Rally
It's time to start planning!!! Don't be left out this year...it'll be our 4th Annual gathering. We have 50 sites reserved and expect to sell out quickly ~
July 30th - August 4th 2004 in Colorado Springs
The rally is open to members of the WBCCI and the Vintage Airstream Club and those interested in joining.
Looks like fun. Just a question, I see that the rally is open to members and those interested in joining. My husband and I just purchased our first Airstream (2003) so we qualify for joining the WBCC but that we do not qualify to join the Vintage Airstream club, but we wish we could. Are there any "honorary" membership status available? From all we have read the real movers and shakers and working families prefer the Vintage clubs. Any talk of a third sanction of Airstream owners open to new and vintage units with the emphasis on more activities and shorter lengths of trips? HINT HINT

There is a relatively new Intra-Club within the WBCCI that is devoted to all of the "Classic" monoque construction Airstream RVs regardless of date of manufacture. It is the Classic Airstream Club, an Intra-Club of the WBCCI - - they have a web site at:
Since my Airstream and Argosy are both Vintage, I am not terribly familiar with their activities. From what I have heard they may have some activities that may be of interest.
I wasn't able to attend that last International Rally so I am not totally clear on the revised membership rules for the VAC. The number of membership levels evidently has been changed as there are only two primary divisions listed on the Membership Information Page of the web site compared to the three or four of just a few years ago.
In checking theVAC Constitution and Bylaws, the bylaws still list a membership category of Associate Member that was (is?) for members of the WBCCI who do not own a Vintage Airstream product but are interested in the VAC activities - - at least in the past this was a non-voting (VAC Intra-Club) membership level and did not include parking with the Vintage group at the International Rally. From the membership information page on the website it isn't clear whether this continues to be an option.
Good luck with your investigation!
Kevin

I will definitely check out the intra clubs and associate membership.
We are so excited being new owners, still waiting for our license plate and our first journey.
This forum has been so helpful in our choice of unit and towing equipment. We look here for all our information now for maintainence and travel tips and enjoy getting to "know" the forum members and the evolution of Airstream through the years.
And also looking forward to being able to add pictures to the online gallery of users when that feature is again available.

If you are a WBCCI member, you would be welcomed at a Vintage Rally...however, the focus of a VAC rally is, of course vintage trailers ~ their stories, history, restoration techniques ~ "other activities" usually take a back seat. The VAC rallies are one of the special benefits of "membership" with the IntraClub and there is not any "honorary" membership available at this time, you can however subscribe to the Vintage Advantage newsletter, even without being a WBCCI member. Here's a link to the VAC Membership website for information on how to subscribe.
Being that you are WBCCI members, you may want to see if there is a local WBCCI unit to get involved with in your area & help mold it and encourage change to better suit your needs or as Kevin suggested, look into the Classic IntraClub...or better yet, get a vintage trailer too! We have several members in our unit that have both!
We and many other VAC'ers are very active in both the VAC & WBCCI Denver Unit rallies...so every unit rally has a vintage contingent!
The most important thing is to get out, enjoy your trailer...and keep the shiny side up!

WOW!!! Can you believe it!!! It's only April 10th and with one more registration (which is probably already in the mail) we are SOLD OUT!!!
I will be starting a waiting list and also trying to obtain additional campsites, however, after the 50th spot is filled, the "early registration rate" will no longer be available.
Email or PM me if you would like information on how to be added to the waiting list.
Shari
