Turkey Day in Q-Town?

A suggestion has been made for a Quarzsite Rally on Thanksgiving weekend. I know that Q-Town is busy, but gets a bunch busier after that weekend. The weather would be great. Many of us have family things going on (another good reason to head for the desert).

What do you think about a Rally for the Turkeys?

CO-host...?

I think the co-host Jimini would be an outstanding choice...Our busy social calendar could be tweaked to make this happen...your votes would not affect the outcome...

SO-O...should we start to consider a location? Plomosa Road(last year's site) was a bit...uhm...hard on the canine feet...but the entry price was right...if we went with a softer terrain, it would be like Tyson Wash, but the entry requires a 14 day BLM LTVA permit($40, last year), and while this allows use of the water/dump facilities, you can get an in-town pit stop for less than $15, unless you also get propane...
There are other free camping areas(Hi Jolly, Dome Rock Road, Scaddon Wash, Road Runner) that allow 14 days...some of the options will obviously depend on the size of the crowds and the size of the rally.
Lots of time, lots of options...don't know what else there is to offer in the way of new sites...maybe a trip to Bouse to see a couple of Patton's tanks...Yuma...Parker...???...maybe just a golf tournament?...

There are THOSE that would say that a TTQ is cheap(I would say 'inexpensive', but not easy)...Cheap is good...we will already have our permit, so we can take out the trash(oops, I mean garbage)...

Jimini, I will gladly pay you %10 of my income from TTQ endorsements for a Bloody Mary or two or...

We'll be out on Thurs. Lucky break in that the L.A. portion of the family will be going to Santa Maria and we'll be on the road to Q.

Gail and I are going to try and get there early Friday, possibly with our grandson Brandon. Do you have a place for us to camp or are we just going to search for everyone and boondock it?

I'd guess we'll boondock it...we should be well-settled into the area by mid-November, if Tracy doesn't break another tooth...just a matter of picking a site and staking it out.
The planning is in the details; details to follow when they have been...uhm...detailed.
This will be a no-fee, no-frills('cept for what you add) rally...just folks gettin' together in the desert for dessert...bring your worst condition clubs, a few disposable practice balls, horseshoe expertise, and whatever else suits yer fancy...

I checked with the wife and she is willing to consider it. No commitment just yet but some interest. Q-town is relatively close and with the stock market the way it is these days it might be good to get used to living out in the desert. You did say free right?
