a trip to the international in salem oregon....

hi forum faithful, friends, foils and fellow air'heads.......

been planning 2 start a thread on my trip 'to' and the trip 'at' the wbcci international for 2006......

since i started in the land of 'ahs' and traveled almost to the emerald city.....

this thread could be called.....
'the wizard of oz meets wally.....' or
'2air climbs down a rivet hole..... or

i'll think of others.....you can too!

anyway
now that i've been here a week and
and almost been arrested/deported from wally world...
and it's 102+ for the 3rd day.....
and the parade of vintages is past,
and the offical show starts in 2 days,

time to get this thread rolling.....

so......
......i fell a sleep in kansas during a big storm,
and awoke driving my truck,
with trailer in tow some where in wyoming....

this is what i saw out the side window squeezing by my silver wagon....

since there was little time to react or swerve over....
i grabbed the camera a snapped a few pics.....

notice how all 3 mirrors on that side suggest......"big stuff is closer than u think!"

they were by me soon enough.....

ok so i'm awake now,
i've put down the coffee and cheetos bag,

these are some BIG tires.....

perhaps airstream hasn't stopped production of class mohos after all....

or could these tires be for the new larger base camp?

that's a lot o'rubber folks....

well another days drive and i saw these....
out the passenger window....

not sure why folks are up in arms about them.....
i think they look cool....
and so much better than the oil pumpers
seen along the roads, in my youth.....

there are some remarkable rock formations
on the run up in wyoming, utah and spud land....

anyone recognize this?

or how about the tunnel?
no, you are not seeing double.....
think i'll try the right one....
no....the other right one.....

see i really did go into the looking glass.....

and saw the light at the end.....

will i make it?
to the oregon wonderland.....

ok, we have passed through the key hole of light.......
and the great divide.....
now if i take a leak on the road side....
it will flow toward the pacific.....
cool

somewhere in idaho....
after decending some long steep grades....
(love the tow command-shift down feature)
there came a rest stop.....

i took the exit....
and snuggled up next to a semi.....
that's me on the right.....

typical postcard scenic site
with towering red rock walls
this view might be part of any travel guide....

but someone is watching.....

look closely at the rock wall just above the airstream....
do ya see the face in the rock? (click on the pic for a larger view)
or is it just me...

someone tell me they see what i see.....
is that wally?

Hope you're not in too much trouble stealin hubcaps at the rally.....or was it that "Jolly Roger" flag that got you into trouble??
Remember.....keep the wine glasses concealed.......it already got you into trouble at Moraine View rally!!

wally has moved to the left of the truck....

it's him i tell ya!!

someone else has gotta see it.....

now as for the wine at moraine view.....
i will gladly tell ya the real story, the truth, the facts.....
what really was said by who, to who, and so on.....
over a nice glass of vino......

and yes i did bring a case of glasses.....

just in case...
you bring the vin'o
