Hmmm.....some talk on the Yahoo Airstream list of some guy who ruffled some WBCCI feathers by flyin' a pirate flag....I wonder who that can be??????

continuing my trip to the international....
the pics of the sisters mountain range are great....
they are much more like tetons....

than the tetons.....

finally i'm into salem.....

let the games begin....

ok i've arrived in the bull pen.....
because the directions posted in the bb were......
excellent!

within minutes i've heard about the robbery....
my informant reports that days earlier....
when fewer trailers were here..
during a officer's luncheon...
several of the big class a mohos were vacant....and
someone shimmy'd the doors and took electronics, jewels, and other loose valuables...

i hate crime, have been robbed myself.....
and we always feel violated when this happens...
so i hope they catch whoever did it and roast 'em.....
(since then some bikes have been stolen too)
but the rally is in a neighborhood where crime happens everyday....
so it should be expected....and precautions taken...

sadly the working theory amoung wb security is that some of the grounds crew (from the local calaboose) must have dropped their leaf blowers and done the deed.....

of course these guys are pretty invisible.....
in the orange shirts.....
and with 'boss man watchin'.....

however this does bring to mind a real rally issue.....

back to the bull pen......

quickly after entering the bull pen,
my credentials are checked.....
i've got a badge,
i've got a receipt....paid in full
i'm on the list of early arrival, workers......
i've got a dog, and i'm goin' to 30amp.....

not a single glitch....

just then who do i see?
a member of the rbcci......

is it possible?

as i type the big vote is concluding........

only delagates at this meeting.....

but i'll report the results early.......now.

of course the name change will be defeated.....
here's why......
basically a chunck of the active members moved to add 'a' to the wbcci....
a committee was charged with adding 'a' to the wbcci.....

somehow the committee deleted wbcci......
and offered aoaii
duh?
but once you understand how committees act in the wbcci.....
it is not surprising.....

anyway,
virtually no one wants aoaii.....
so it will go down easily......

but many do want the 'a' in the wbcci.......
i like....
wally's airstream caravan club international......
or......wacci......
go ahead and say it......wacci.....

the new logo will also sink.......
but the officers/delegates did manage to pass......
an increase in to the travel reimbursement allowance.....
they did this last week....quickly and focused.....
just like real legislators....

but these are really the red herring issues.......

the important issue....
and the reason i'm here.....
is to offer up, a new hat for members......
to replace the blue beret.....

a more international hat for a truly international club.....

this hat was first revealed at the midwest rally weeks ago.....
i think folks liked it......

so i continue now under the theme.....

"follow the members of the rbcci"

and the new hat controversy......

as i was leaving the bull pen......

i spotted some members involved in the hat controversy (hc)
and the beret shinanigans (bs)......

see, at this point the bs issue is still open to debate and options
and we have folks actively supporting both choices.....

my greeter favors the beret,
while her assistant favors the tall striped version,
with wally's new likeness.....

which do you prefer....
it's not too late to cast a vote!!!

who did i see but the president of honey bucket.....

they are helping with the poo service here
and have a firm position on the bs issue...

clearly they favor the rbcci.......

from the bull pen......
the parking committee......
(all 6 of them in a car with flags)

took me to my site......
guided me into the slot......
so my trailer is exactly where they painted marks in the grass.....

once this business was finished......

i asked "who is in charge of this parking committee?"

and this kind man stepped forward.....
and replied....."I AM"

he also was proud to show support for rbcci.......
wearing his preferred beret....

while his 2nd in command likes the other option still on the ballot......

when will the controversy end?

Careful, you keep reporting like this and people are going to get the idea that the WBCCI is a fun-lovin' bunch! Thay have a stodgy reputation to protect!

as i wandered through the crowd
after the larry and dickie speech......
which was held on 'wear your beret day'.....
who did i bump into?
yet another member of the rbcci....
wearing her beret....

and she is well known among airstreamers....
and yahoo forum fans.....

clearly she also favors the movement for rbcci.....

note over her right shoulder....
a member of the old guard....
the current guard....
or maybe just a guard....

wearing the beret makes one happy mon!
perhaps he should try it?

even youngsters are excited about the rbcci....

here is a perhaps the cutest member.....
proudly wearing here beret.....

and as proof that the young dance to another tune....
she shows us a better way to wear the beret....

yes the club needs young members.....
who sleep soundly,
and tell it like it is...
