Late breaking news -- no hiking for us. Unfortunately, we will need to leave the rally early (we are aiming for right after breakfast on Sunday) due to the tremendous clean-up we need to do after the flooding last week. We are still waiting for the dirt crawl space to dry out a bit more and then we need to tackle the removal of all the moldy stuff under the house. I never realized how bad things smell after being wet for over a week. Additionally, our oil burner is officially dead (it was under water for over a week) so that will need to be dealt with too. The weather is supposed to be very warm on both Sunday and Monday so that will help with our clean-up efforts. We are keeping our fingers crossed that there won't be much rain on Friday night to Saturday morning.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone, though, on Friday night and Saturday.

Too bad for pooch

Are dogs allowed on the hike? Never been up there, but it sounds inviting.[/quote]

The last time I hiked Monadnock was 10 years ago and dogs were allowed then. Not sure about now but I would assume so.

Are pets allowed at Monadnock State Park?
Pets are not permitted in the park or on the mountain.
seeNH State Parks Pets Policy

Elaine said she just wanted to sit around and do nuttin. Interested in dog sitting?

Hmmmm....yes, you are correct. They were allowed about 10 years ago which is the last time I hiked that mountain. I guess alot changes in 10 years.

Bummer you guys will need to leave early

Your clean up work sounds pretty yucky - we were lucky, not a drop of water in our cellar or barn.....

I saw on the campground's website that the firepit in the group camping area is 9' round - bring with you can so that we can have one fantastic bonfire!

BTW, we are bringing wood, not as much as Balrgn though....

Every piece helps! We normally have enough donations, but this is a three day fire-fest so it will be a great if folks bring an additional log or two.

As Jim F. says "It's not camp'n without a fire". So true!

I used some online satellite tracking software and saw which rig in your backyard had the most activity so I think I have figured it out! I won't post it here though so I don't spoil the answer for everyone else.
