Hey gang! Just RSVP'd to make it lucky #13! Since this will be our first rally, where do you guys meet. I hit the Q-Rving website and it says that there can be as many as 100,000 RV's in Q-town! Is this really the case for you guys during thanksgiving week? I assume that the spot is a boon docking spot. Are there dump stations in Q-town? Any newbie advice for our first rally would be great!
Welcome aboard, NicheVintage...glad to see another Phoenician join in the fun... This will be our first Q rally too, but looking forward to seeing all the 4CU gang again... It's going to be a blast.
We're sure Mike (ScrapIrony-2) and Jim (Jimmini) will be posting particulars soon to help us first-timers find the gathering site, where to dump, get gas, and all that good stuff...right Mike?
See you there!

We will be having Q-3,T-2 rally at the same area as last year the FREE BLM boondocking land South of Quartzsite called Road Runner CG.
1)You go about 5 miles south of Quartzsite on US 95 to just past mile marker 99.
(2) Then turn right onto 53rd ST North, just after you turn bare right onto dirt road, sign has Road Runner camp ground. Then follow the 4CU signs. Note :This is a FREE rally, Free camping, NO rally fee, NO kitty fee.All we ask is that you bring some FIRE WOOD,and a table.Would like to hear from some volunteers for the side dishes and the WINE.Looks right now like we will be feeding about 30 folks. But hope this goes up as more folks sign-up. Mike,Richard how many turkey's do we need? Jimmini will bring one. Will we still be deep frying them again this year? From my other post link it sounds like the Old Yuma road and some others got flood damage in the LTVA.
Jim - Jan and I will bring the fryer, oil and one turkey. Make sure the bird is 15 pounds or less. The big ones do not fit well in the fryer and do not taste as good either. Last year we had 2 birds and had some left over. I think the Q-Town regulars had turkey for another week after we left.
I'll throw in turkey fryer in case we need to do another turkey. With the one Richard has and the smoked turkey Howard is bringing that should be enough.
Getting closer to leaving home. We will leave SW Colorado on 10-6 and meet some of the Ballon fiest folks at Show Low for a few days and then on to Q.
Well, I thought I posted a long note last night, but either the computer crashed or I did...OK, dumping can be done at The Pit Stop...they also provide filtered water and propane...since they have a dump hose, you don't have to mess with rinsing yours...they provide a 5 gal bucket for manual flush after flush...I think the charge is $20 plus propane...really convenient all in one...you can be serviced onsite for water and dump(and propane), but I think they charge $20-$25 per truck...at that rate, it would be cheaper to BUY a 2 week pass($40) and avail yourself of the dump and water station provided with the pass cost. If you are coming in to Q from the east on IH 10, there is a ZIP gas station on the north(right) side, about 20 miles east of Q, which has the cheapest gas and propane in the area, and is readily RV accessible. There is an excellent produce market in town, another store has a better-than-big-box butcher market with great prices at both stores...mail can be forwarded to the Post Office, and a local store(Quiet Times) will take UPS, Fed EX, and faxes for a small fee...basically, if you can't find what you want in Quartzsite, you just didn't look hard enough. If folks are interested, we will resurrect the glass garden, Erdman's Cabin, Hi Jolly Monument, and other tours. Jimmini hauled me around to several spots I hadn't seen before, last winter...after ther washes last monsoon, I'm not sure what will be accessible, but we will scout before the rally to see.
BTW, any airstreamers out there who might be interested in joining up with us---come on in!!!4CU membership is not required, but if ya wanna join, I'll pay yer first year's dues($1)
