Nothing new. The contracts for the park have been signed. With a year and a half before the event, little else has transpired since the original post in this thread. I expect we will do some more advance work on the event this summer.

Fred Coldwell, Vintage Historian intends to attend and has kindly agreed to speak.

You know you're a serious NERD when you see something like this, think "Oh, I should put that on my calendar!", go to your calendar, and there is is staring back at you. I'll keep fantasizing about winning the lotto and retiring in time to make the Colorado one this year, and keep planning on October 2013 in Gonzales, even if I forget I put it on the calendar already.

The Vintage Airstream Rally committee will be attending the "Come and Take It" Festival in Gonzales, TX first weekend in October (2012) to get a feel for the JB Wells Park facilities and the festival activities so we can better plan an interesting and fun-filled rally for October, 2013. You might want to google "Come and Take It Festival" to find a schedule of this year's events. The town fathers are anxious to have us visit them in 2013. So watch this thread for more rally info.

Skye and I have been very graciously VOLUNTEERED

to be "parking guides" when you all arrive. I think I should warn everyone in advance that Skye never actually gained complete control of the difference between right and left.

So.....if you draw her card as your offical parker, make sure you bring a compass and plenty of water for the hike back.

We are so looking forward to this!! The Glen Rose Vintage Rally was our very first rally ever. Learned so much, and had a great time. Expect much more of the same at this one.

Just to let everyone know, we are deep in the planning phase with the folks at Gonzales, both the RV park folks and the C of C. The key players from our unit will be camping on-site in Gonzales during this year's "Come and Take It" festival to observe the festival and plan how to best coordinate our events with the festivities going on down town. Making maximum use of the festival will permit us to keep our rally fee more affordable since we will not need to pay for evening entertainment.

Diane and I are working on the Safari, with this rally as our goal. We still have not lifted the shell, but believe we can at least drag an aluminum tent to the rally.

We had a four-trailer planning weekend at the park during this year's "Come and Take It" festival in October. We had folks from all of the major rally committees there to sample the facilities and attend festival events with the aim of making maximum use of the local festival entertainment to keep rally cost down. As before the park and city folks are really eager to see us come.

All sites are full-hookup, on grass. The park is located on a gentle rise, so bring sufficient leveling blocks.

The kitchen facilities are minimal, but we plan to serve only coffee and rolls at the most. There will be catered dinners and the usual big pot luck.

I am looking for one or more vintage trailer attendees that will be towing with vintage cars/trucks to represent us in the big parade downtown. A Classic motorhome would also be appropriate. The older the Airstreams and TVs, the better. Please IM or email me if you fit this description and would like to participate.
