Summer Safari!

Pam and I are planning a July buddy rally, "Summer Safari", at Lake Forest Resort in East Wakefield, NH July 15-17 (2 nights -- Friday and Saturday). Everyone is welcome to join us. The location is on Great East Lake which is a few miles west of Route 16 and about 40 miles south of North Conway, NH. There is plenty to do in the area including swimming, boating, shopping, etc.

I have reserved their safari field for the weekend and the cost is $26/night and includes water and electricity plus there will be a $5 kitty fee to cover coffee and muffins for the two mornings. We can have a campfire and there is a clubhouse we can use. The campground would prefer that I just write them one check to cover everyone so just let me know if you are coming and you can pay me when you arrive. There is room for 40 rigs.

"lakeside golf and camping for couples"

kinda makes it sound like "no kids allowed", although, I could not find those exact words on their website. The mention of a specific "grandchildren's weekend" (singular) seems to support this implication.

Kids are allowed. The campground just doesn't have any planned activities for children like a Yogi Bear campground might.

Safari theme ideas

The theme of the rally is "Summer Safari" so I've included some links to websites with safari theme ideas:

1) Animal prints

2) Safari paper goods

We will also have a "safari theme" potluck dinner on Saturday night.

Yes, dogs are allowed with the usual rules (i.e., tied up and pick-up after).

Summer Safari updates

I have a couple of updates to the Summer Safari to share with everyone:

1) Early arrivals on Thursday are welcome! Some folks have expressed an interest in making a longer weekend out of this rally so you may arrive after 3 PM on Thursday, July 14.

2) For those who want to eat in on Saturday night, we are planning a "Grill Your Own Potluck". This is where you bring your own grill meal for yourself and a side dish or dessert to share.

3) The theme for Saturday night is "Western" so polish off your "western" style foods and dress in western garb, if you like.

4) Sign-up is simple -- just let me know if you are coming so we can plan accordingly and you can pay me the $26/night and $5 kitty fee when you arrive.

5) Watch for your copy of the July Quipper for more information. Send me a PM or email if you don't receive the Quipper and I will send you the information separately.

Too many wonderful choices!

We are going to one of the best places in the world this weekend (T2R9 Maine, it's so remote there isn't a town near it) or else we would be hanging out with you guys.

Have fun and take many pictures to share with us!

QuikShade and Country Music

Yes we are bringing ours up. I'm also bringing some Tim McGraw and Dixie Chicks for Atmosphere. I'm bringing the speaker system I brought to Salisbury and plugging in my mp3. If anyone else have some favorite country they'd like to include, bring your cds over to my trailer before Saturday's event and I'll add it to the play list.

The countdown begins....

turned on the fridge thismorning on my way out the door to work.

So, last night, we were talking about the upcoming weekend, and I turned to my 2-year-old son and said jokingly, "can you say "Wally Byam"?"

He responded with an enthusiastic, "WEE BA-BUM!!!!!!". he liked the reaction that brought on, so now he's saying it all the time, running around the house..."wee ba-bam!!, wee ba-bum!!"

welcome to "the parrot years", right? .

Okeedokee Cowboys and Cowgirls it's time to pack. I am making Cowboy Calico Beans for our western night. Also made some homemade bbq sauce for my tbone steaks. Just have to polish off the boots and we are off. I think we are leaving around 330 or 4. See you all there.

We're back, boy are weekends short................................

Back from a weekend of fun with friends! We all spent Saturday afternoon kayaking on the lake. It was our first time, and my family kept up with the pros.

Saturday evening was fun dressing up in our cowboy/girl outfits and learning different steps to line dancing from our AS friends Marie & Mark, great teachers! We plan on expanding our dancing group when we go to Quebec in August.

We missed seeing 53FlyingCloud, muddy_hollow, DEO, Over59, and of course myboyburt.

Total rig count was 13, pretty good for a short notice rally!

As usual Nancy & Pam knows how to pick the best locations!

See ya all soon,
Gail

Thanks for coming

What a group!

We had a full house for a short notice rally. The final count was 15 rigs, 11 children, 2 twenty somethings, 4 dogs and a hedgehog, with a bunch of us adults. We even had visitors from the Forum stop by.

Thank you all so much for signing up. Everyone was teriffic, had a great time, made great food, and just enjoyed the weekend. Yes, the kayaking with a stop for lunch and a swim was a highlight. We also enjoyed a nice dinner, music, campfire and even a little dancing, with lots of just hanging out and talking.

Thanks for coming and we hope to see you at the next New England Unit rally.

Regards,
Pam
