Southern Illinois 'One Last Rally Before Winterization'

Don't Winterize Yet! Join the WBCCI Southern Illinois Unit in one last campout before winter.

WBCCI membership not required.

This is a very low-key rally. No business meeting. No schedule. Just camping. We'll burn copious amounts of firewood to stay warm and there will be a chili dinner on Saturday. I'll provide more information about that later.

We'll be camping at Stephen A. Forbes State Park in near-peak fall colors. It's a beautiful park for canoeing and kayaking. Sites have electric and water is available year-round from freeze-proof spigots.

No reservations required. There will be a few deer hunters using the campground as a base camp, otherwise we have the place to ourselves. Just pull in, grab a spot and have a good time.

There will be between 20 and 30 Airstreams from the Southern Illinois Unit at the rally plus those of us that sign up from the Airforums.

Oh yeah. I guess that's kind of important. I just copied and pasted what I typed from the Rally Calendar.

The dates will be the weekend of November 6th. I'm going to come after work on Thursday the 5th (weather pending).

Since we don't need reservations this is a great rally to sign up for and if it turns out to be cold and rainy there's no loss.

I cant make any promises, sounds like fun. May be a good weekend to drop the girls in Indy for the weekend with their grandparents. Let's see 350 one way is 700 miles @ 10 MPG = 70 Gallons + or - = "How to sell it to Erin?"

It is always popcorn weather! Last nights was back to spot on. I just did not get the pot hot enough over the fire on sat.

We will be there, with our Dutch Ovens----and will be interested in knowing how to make popcorn in them! We have a killer chili recipe, too.

Looking forward to seeing the crew from the Moraine View Rally, and to meeting the folks from the Southern Unit that Steve (TinLoaf) speaks so highly of.

If you have a killer Chili recipe, whey not give a shot at the title over the 2nd weekend in October at the Branson rally and chili cook off!

We would love to do that, but are currently in NY state, on our way to Philadelphia for a long weekend, then will be meandering toward home. We have an appointment at JC on October 19th, will not be home til after that.

However, if you come to this Rally and like our chili, we might just share the recipe!

It ought to be a bit nippy at that time of year, but I know you will have a great time.

Southern Illinois always gets me excited. I am there in a couple of weeks. I am so ready to get back to the Land of Lincoln. The trailer is primed and ready to go.
