What a wonderful job you have done putting this all together. And an awsome jesture to pay for the first year VAC membership to those who need it! Right now it doesn't look like this one will fit into our schedule for 2008. If anything changes we will let you know right away! Great job and thank you for all your hard work and dedication to VAC!

Presently working on the Metro, I hope to have ready for the spring. If not, I'll be bringing the Travelall.
This is what the Metro is looking like these days. The shape is very much like an Airstream Bambi, maybe a silver paint job...
Wow Paul! That is cool looking. And it will be even "cooler" with your Bambi in tow! Is that an actual photo of what it looked like when you picked it up? What condition is it in and how much work do you have to do before it is Airstream-towable?
Excellent news! We are thinking it might make sense to meet at the Danbury, CT rest area on Wednesday night to get an early start on Thursday morning. The drive time to VA from Danbury is about 450 miles (about 7.5 hrs). How much driving can you guys (and your tow vehicle) handle in a day?
I'm signed up too! When I signed up last Wednesday, the campground indicated I got the last full hook-up site. It's exciting to see such a great turn out already for a first time East coast VAC event that was only just advertised a week ago!
I think... the web site says 4 of 4 - as I can't get ahold of the campground office since they are closed for the weekend. I hope it took my reservation. Really looking forward to this Paul - and we'll be towing with our 59 Buick towing the 58 Sovereign of the Road. It's gonna be a GOOD one!

OK Nancy, Paul and I have both showed you ours, now it's time for you to show us yours! I know you have a 1960's Chevy somewhere. Come on, we want to see it.
On a side note, I just got an email from Marc Weimer our WDCU webmaster, he'll be coming down with a 1968 Dodge Polairs pulling his Globe Trotter.
Looks like we may have as many vintage cars as we do trailers.
It's truly a good time to be vintage on the East Coast.

OK...you asked...here is a current photo of the engine (just taken 4 hours ago)!
It is definitely a "work in progress"! Earlier this week, I asked him if there was a remote chance to finish it by June. The look I got was priceless!
So, to keep momentum moving on the project, I "surprised" hubby this weekend and went out and rented an engine hoist and purchased an engine stand! We just finished successfully pulling the 327 engine out of the '66 Chevy pickup so he can rebuild it for the Suburban. I'm shooting for the proverbial "stars" but will be happy to reach the proverbial "moon" by June!
I see them take a part, clean, rebuild, paint, put back together a car in less than a week all the time on TV, you have 20 weeks before the rally. So, "What's the problem?" That leaves you 19 weeks to wash and wax it before you leave. Keep cracking that whip!

I just picked up the custom made drive shaft for our 59/75 Electurban - remember, it's a 1959 Buick Electra mounted to a 1975 trailering special Suburban chasis. The Chevy 454 heads are at the machine shop getting a 3 angle valve job done on them and hopefully by the end of the week, it'll be together and driving. Then it's onto the body work and re-paint (we're keeping the Tawny Rose original color I think). First, I'll be driviing it to get all the mechanical bugs worked out. It's getting close!

Paul,
I booked my site online today. I have tried repeatedly to call and had no success, I have also emailed them three times over the past three weeks and have heard nothing from the KOA. I did state that I was part of the VAC group in my reservation, will they be putting us all together? That is a very large campground and I hope we won't all be spread around.
Also I would like to volunteer to help cook breakfast, please put me down for that task. I would be glad to help as many mornings as needed. Now if I can just get Anna put back together, I will be set.
Is a vintage tow vehicle a requirement? Is 2001 vintage enough?

I hear ya! I mentioned that same thing to hubby and I just got "that look" again. Funny thing is he watches those shows all the time too!

Paul- I saw them do it last night in 1/2 hour. Come on Nancy, buy Brian some Red Bull or something.
