A rally lasting into the future

Well,

It looks like the “East Coast VAC Rally” had lasting effects on some of its neighbors. The guy camping in the spot next to me during the rally was GREAT! How and why he put up with us all weekend, I do not know. We thank Mike many times for being so nice and on Sunday night gave him a rally T-shirt while joking that he might become one of us someday. Little did he know?

Below is an email I got from Mike today that had a 24’ surprise!

"Hi, I was your next door neighbor at verona koa. thanks again for the t-shirt. my first inquiry to my friends about an old airstream paid off. i found a tradewind land yacht parked in highland county as a hunting camp since the early 80's. it hasn't been used in about 5 years. the man said i could have it if i hauled it away. the only question is whether or not they can find the title. regardless, i'll get it home, but i might wait till about january.[notice the snake skins hanging over the couch] researching the ID # i believe it to be a '64 model. is that destiny or what? one rally next door and one month later a vintage airstream owner.hope the attached pictures come thru as they were taken with a cell phone. hope to be a VAC member soon.
thanks again,
mike, swoope virginia"

I've asked Mike to send me his info: I will be paying for his first years membership to the WBCCI and the VAC.

NICE! I was pretty sure we'd talked him into Airstreaming without even trying. I had the impression he was thinking seriously about Airstreams by the end of that weekend.

And there it is folks! If people see us out there having a good time at rallies, they will join and stay in WBCCI. Now a conversion like this isn't likely to happen often, but picking up and keeping non-WBCCI Airstreamers is easy when they see us having a good time.

WOW Paul, You are a the man... That guy was lots of fun. He came by and visited a few times. The second time he brought his whole family and I seemed they were more than curious. You deserve big kudos for offering the aluminum branch and then having him accept it.

Things to Tell

Rhonda...you are so right. Since purchasing our Vintage Airstream we have learned a lot. And Airstream would be our first choice.

Were you at the 2008 Rally? We met so many nice people. Next rally I plan to have a Guest Book. I will list some small memory enhancer beside the person's signature.

Yep I was there. I met you on Sunday I think. I was either walking the white dog or the black dog. We were at the other end of the group than you were. I agree about the guest book. It's hard to keep all the names and faces straight. Then when you through in Airforum screen names it gets even more confusing!!

Even more confusing is I just realized I wrote this under my husband's screen name!! Sorry!!
