My younger "other half" has just informed me of my confusion with regards to variety shows. The show with "bubbles" was actually the Lawrence Welk show which premiered in 1955, after the Ed Sullivan show premiered.
Actually, I'm old too, and will also take my walker and go off to work today but I still never watched the Ed Sullivan show!

Thanks Pam. Apparently I led a sheltered life growing up...all work and no play (i.e., TV).
I'm trying to change that now in my "advancing years."

the kids and oldsters alike will love that!...I remember the bubbles and Lawrence Welk You do have a band assembled by now.
This is sounding like the event of the year. I think someone should put together one of those make it yourself books! I'll take a copy.
We just got our new AS and new tires on the Expy, we are really hoping to get up there and join you!
(I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan too, with the caption "sorry girls, he's married" for Paul. Even went on the "el"[evated train] to the airport in Chicago with other elementary schoolers and some one's mother for the British invasion!)

I hadn't heard that one about the WBCCI being "full of old farts" as you indicated in your post. I'm sure you aren't generalizing about the whole of WBCCI based on a few encounters with "old farts" like myself in New England, right?
According to the definition below of "old fart", I should be insulted by your post but, because I call myself an "old fart" all the time, I'm not insulted (i.e., if used in the first person, the term "old fart" is full of pride).
old fart n. Tribal elder. A title self-assumed with remarkable frequency by (esp.) Usenetters who have been programming for more than about 25 years; often appears in signature blocks attached to Jargon File contributions of great archeological significance. This is a term of insult in the second or third person but one of pride in first person.

I agree but, in keeping with this off topic theme of "old farts", I present an "old fart" quiz for everyone. I will post the answers to the quiz in another day or so to give everyone a chance to gauge their "old fart" barometer!!!

Ok, I admit the only thing I got wrong was Freddy the Freeloader. I thought it was Clem Cadidlehopper. I bet I spelled that wrong! I'm proud to be an old fart. Like BALRGN said, your only as old as you feel.
