We need themes???? I thought we was doin a 70's thing???? And well of course Flamingo's[/quote]

It's up to each Airstream owner to decide what they would like to do in regards to lighting. Some folks will do simple, others will go "over the top". I'm going for tacky, think I'm on the right track so far...

I hear we have 34 campers signed up already! Very nice, only like a hundred to go!

We are donating wood, lotsa wood so we are sure to have a good blaze to gather around.

How are we doing with the Tin Chef???

We are trying to think of door prizes to donate? Any suggestions?

Anyone interested in participating in the Tin Chef Cook-Off needs to contact their Unit President for more information. There will be one team from each Region One Unit competing. It will be a really fun event based loosely on the Iron Chef with prizes for participants and attendies alike. It's scheduled to take place before the Vintage Open House. If anyone is interested in participating they can go to this site for more info http://www.wbcci1.org/ne/2006AlumiNa...incanchef.html

Not that I want everyone to know exactly what our lighting display for the contest will include I've got to share this: I've dug up a color wheel (you know, the light with a spinning three color wheel in front of it that folks used in the 60s to highlight their aluminum Christmas trees). I'm thinking I can accent an area of the exterior of our Excella with it's changing colors.

The Grand Illumination Contest and Stroll

Balgrn I forgot that you weren't in attendance at last year's "Scout Out" Rally.

We did a trial run of the "Grand Illumination" contest and stroll. Most attendees decorated their Airstream's with lights. None of the lights were turned on until "Wally Byam's bell" rang at exactly 9:00pm and then it was magic! With the circle parking arrangement folks walked/strolled the camping area road(s) and viewed the lights. Some folks had music playing that matched their lighting theme. It was beautiful! And at the Region One Rally this year it will be at a much grander scale. I'm really looking forward to it.

Before the lighting we shared a pot luck dinner and then gathered around a giant campfire, telling stories and singing songs. It was really wonderful.

Can't wait !

I am working on a songbook for the evening sing-a-longs. Is there anyone who would like to help? PM me and we can work on a song list. Also is there anyone else coming who plays guitar or anything else who wants to play along at night?

Doug

DEO, count me in! Being one of your backup singers (after 2+ glasses of wine) make me wicked talented in this area. We should sign up Gail too, this girl has talent even if she is has not been drinking.

Hey, maybe we could have our own American Idol sing-along contest and call it the "Aluminum Idol" contest!?

Yukionna I love that idea!!! Calling all talent. As head of the entertainment, it has been brought to my attention that our club has many talent folk just waiting to entertain us. All talent (well almost all) welcome. Send me a PM if you are interested in joining in. Guitar, harmonica, violin, etc. Singers always a plus. I am with you Michelle, wine + music = singer.

How to's?

We are thinking of having a "how to" seminar to be held during the Alumination Rally. Something along the line of routine maintenance such as: repacking a wheel bearing, care of batteries, winterizing, or anything that can or should be done on annual basis.
But, your input is crucial... What would you like to know about or seen done?
Be reasonable now!

All of the above, please. Well if you have to eliminate one, we already know how to winterize. The repacking of the wheel bearings is a big one, I think that should be a definite. We'll volunteer our trailer for that if you want.
