Region 1 Rally 2005-" The Quebec Heartland"

Hi folks,

Thought we'd get a head start this year on trying to see how many new members will join us at The Region 1 Rally in Quebec 2005. It sounds like an awesome trip to Canada.

There is a swimming pool (largest in North America), next to the fairgrounds where we will all be parked. With it's historical sites and museums "Les vieilles forges du St-Maurice", Notre-Dame du Cap Sanctuary, Arts, Crafts, Sugar house and city bus tour, there will be lots of fun for everyone. The bus tours sound very exciting.

For more info call Claude Boucher (450)669-6601 (cbouche18@hotmail.com).

We are planning on going and making a vacation out of it. Too much to see in the planned 4 days! Early parking is $15 per day starting on August 23rd. Well, lets get the ball rolling and see if we can double our rig count to over 220. This year, we had 104 rigs attend.

Tune in for more,
Gail & T

Southern friends envited!

All our friends from way down south, where the sun shines All The Time, please come join some northern hospitality. Now, I'm talking to Tin Can Luv ,thenewkid64 , smily and the rest of the gang. There are several of us who have curb side parking. If the northern folks can post their curb side parking to my email, then I can post it here.

Thanks,
Gail

P.S. Neighbors beware when the tin cans arrive.

as of now, we're planning on going. so...that brings us up to "2". well, its a start.

and you can park at my house anytime. but I'm not exactly "on the way" from "down south" to Trois Rivieres. probably 2 hours out of the way. But I am "on the way" to Maine!

Caravan

Do I see a Caravan forming? I could go 91 or 93 which merge up there in God's country. Ron day vous in St. Johnsbury.

Caravan-a-go-go North

My wife and I plan on heading to Quebec for the rally as well. Don't know if we we're going to go up early and tour around or after the rally. Would be cool to caravan up in a big group.

Rally

God willin' and the crick don't rise I'll be there! Problem is, I have a rough time figuring out where I'll be, or what I'll be doing, next week! A year from now??? Since my home base in Maine is sort of on the way to Quebec, just honk when you go by and I'll hook up and follow!

Region 1 Rally 2005 - Trois Rivieres trip recommendations

Okay, it's a litte early but no harm in planning ahead. I'm hoping that that the caravan from New England comes together and we can all drive up as a group, but afterwards we would like to tour the region, either towards Montreal or Quebec.

I'm sure there are some great spots to visit. Anyone have any recommendations?

There's no shortage of good stuff to do in Montreal and Quebec City. However, along the road from I-93 in NH through Quebec it's a bit more sparse.

In Quebec City, the best thing (IMHO) is to just walk the Old City and enjoy the atmosphere, restaurants, museums, and architecture. Outside the city: check Montmorency Falls. Between Montreal and QC, La Mauricie (sp?) Provincial Park is excellent for kayaking and canoeing, and you can camp there.

In Montreal, there are numerous very good museums (modern art, fine arts, Canadian history, etc). We like shopping Little Italy at Jean-Talon Market on Saturdays. There's also a casino, La Ronde amusement park, Botanical Garderns, etc. See http://www.tourisme-montreal.org/ for more. But to enjoy Montreal you'll need to find a campground a bit out of town.

Beware of Provincial Campgrounds in Quebec

I agree Quebec City is beautiful .. summer or winter.. but if using Provincial parks.. no dogs are allowed in Quebec provincial parks.. just thought some might be interested.. Annie

The last time we were in Old Quebec there were 5 T-Shirt shops for every other shop. All with the same shirts. Real tourist trap, prehaps it has changed.

We are going. Taking the Caravel and likly make it a two day trip up. I think we could make it in a day but it would be a long one. I like to meander and generally stay off the Interstates until time's an issue.
