Yes! In the truck and in "The Tube"
Channel 14 is the WBCCI connection! We have CB's in our truck and our Airstream, looking forward to using them for a Airstream adventure!

The more I play with this toy, the better i like it...lol
It even has a electric starting..saves wear and tear on the ole man..lol
For voice contact..Has anyone given it a thought abt using FMSradios???
We have two and have found that the range to be excellent and, the battery life to be even better than cell fones..
Just a thought~
Of course, I've never owned a CB radio..being a "HAM"...lmao
May have to get our FTDX 757 With it's 100 watts on that channel 14..
ciao

We have a couple of radios also that we keep in the truck for backing up the trailer so we don't have to shout to each other. The have a 5 mile range and we used them when we skied with the kids or went on vacation so that we could keep in contact with each other.
We do know that we need to get a CB radio though, funny M mentioned yesterday morning before Gail's post. My question to this very informative group is, which one do you have? what features? does anyone have one with an automatic weather alert? If you could give me a product name and number it would help in my search to locate one.
Thanks everyone, hopefully we'll be checking in on channel 14 with all of you on the caravan.

Wow -- I haven't been paying attention!
Just checking in and found a whole conversation that I missed somehow.
We have no CB radio, no generator, and 1 passport between the 4 of us (yes, we do have birth certificates!). The one with the passport can speak limited French and he's been studying up for the trip. He was wondering if anyone knows of any French language Airstream forums that he could use for practice. Any suggestions?
We're also interested in knowing where the wi-fi spots are in Trois-Rivieres. Can our host help us out with this?

Hey M we have the cobra hand held model of cb. It has the weather feature that you spoke of. It is the same one that Pam has. Does this help? I guess I should consult with the boss for the exact make and model

I usually purchase a Berlitz book and tape before I go to any country that I can’t speak the language in. I will listen to the tapes in my car for about 2 weeks before the trip and it will at a minimum teach you some basic phrases you can use. It also will get you used to hearing the language and (at least for me) will feel more comfortable in the country.
Key phrases generally are:
- Hello
- Goodbye
- I would like….
- How much does this cost
- Where is…
- Excuse me..
- Help !
- “I would like a beer please” generally followed by…
- “Where is the bathroom?”
My spelling in French is bad so maybe one of our Canadian friends would like to fill in the blanks...

Basic French
Bon jour (bon-zhoor) Good morning/good day
Au revoir (oh-ruh-vwar) Good-bye
Bon soir (bon-swar) Good evening
Salut (sah-loo) Hello
Je ne comprends pas (jhuhn kom-prohn pah) I don't understand
D'accord (dah-core) OK
Comment allez-vous? (kom-mohn tah-lay voo) How are you?
Enchante (on-shohn-tay) Glad to meet you
De rien (dah ree-ehn) You're welcome
Parlez-vous anglais? (par-lay voo zon-glay) Do you speak English?
Excusez-moi (ex-koo-zay mwah) Excuse me/sorry
This came from a basic travel guide I had. Hope it helps. Excuse the missing accent, I couldn't figure out how to add it in this program.
Au revoir, M

CB's are the best idea. If you are traveling with us on the New England Unit caravan, we are asking that you have a cb for the trip. We will be monitoring channel 14. The cellphone numbers we are exchanging are for emergency contact only.
If you don't have a cb, we will put you between two rigs that do. That is basically for keeping you from getting lost and making sure someone knows if you have a breakdown or problem on the road.

Well guys, the rally is getting closer so..... lets reflect on our to do list:
1. Generators (for extra electricity, plus we will all be parked together)
2. Pink Flamingos (it's an AS thing)
3. CB Radio (for communication on outtings)
4. Notify car & tt insurance companies that you'll be out of country
(They will mail you a special insurance card to carry with you)
5. Birth certificates or passports
6. Nice attire for "the special entertainment"
7. Bistro supplies

YIKES! Canadian Insurance Coverage Card is REQUIRED!
Well, after seeing Gail's last post I decided to call my insurance company to see if we should have a special insurance card for our vehicle for the trip to Canada and they told me it's now a requirement and if I did not have one there was a risk we could be turned back at the border.
So guys, if you haven't done so contact your insurance company and have the cards mailed (or faxed) to you.

Wow! This is some bridge
And we are going to be driving over it :
The Laviolette Bridge is one of Canada's longest at 3,490 metres (11,450 ft, that's over 2 miles, right?) and the only bridge between Quebec and Montreal to span the St Lawrence River.
