Being technically impaired .. What impact does being at 4 amps make?

DEO, 4 amps means your battery will stay charged. At that level you should stick with 12v appliances only. Run your fridge on gas.

You run the risk of popping a circuit breaker if you use A/C appliances, especially anything with a motor. That's embarassing because you'll take down a few of your neighbors who are sharing the same circuit as you.

At 4 amps, air conditioning is impossible without a generator, but in Quebec in late August it's unlikely to be warm enough to need air anyway. If you must have air conditioning, bring a big generator.

Don't be too sure of that. We've been having the hottest summer in years with no sign of it letting up until late September. If you've got a genny capable of running your A/C, I'd be bringing it just in case. That being said, it'll probably be 2 degrees celcius with wet snow, but you never know - Canadian weather is notoriously goofy - I've even seen snow in July ! P.

Whoops, I just spotted this post. Sorry, the cellular Internet connection we use doesn't work in Canada yet. We are working on that but I don't expect it to be ready in time for the rally.

But I'm already researching wi-fi hotspots in Trois Rivieres. Apparently there is a chain of three cafes in the downtown area, Cafe Morgane, which offer wifi for a fee.

yeah, and I seem to remember SOMEone saying the same thing about VT in late August, last year. turned out to be 95 and sticky the whole weekend.

murphy's law of camping: the hottest weather occurs when you have the fewest amps available. or something like that.....

oh, well. it was a good time, anyway.

I made note of 2 (I think) free WIFI spots not too far from the Fairground. I'm camping right now and the list is at home but once I get back from this mini adventure I'll post the info on the Forum for those who will bringing their laptops to the Rally.

Thanks for the info... Ok Next question Will there be specific hours we can run generators?

Dogs and the heat

FYI, a few of us are concerned about our dogs in the heat (with no A/C) so we have opted to kennel our dogs instead. I found a convenient kennel just 3 miles down the road from the Crazy Horse CG. To minimize separation anxiety (we won't mention which one of us will have this anxiety ), I plan on leaving my baby on Wednesday morning (just before we caravan north) and then picking him on my way back through on Sunday. The kennel is open on Sunday for a few hours in the morning and then between 3-5 in the afternoon.

The whole trip will depend on the temps for us. We are puppy setting and she cann't be boarded and is "sensitive". I could get that second 2000 I've been looking at

Update from Claude per his email

Hi Gail

The program is now in process for printing. The only think I can tell you
the program is similar as any other Regiion 1 rally by the pass.
At Trois-Rivières you will have sightseeing tours. French Canadian warm
welcome !. The best food in North America ! Big shopping center near by with Wal Mart. Downtown at 10 minutes walk. Museum, antique place and more.

Breakfast, dinner, ice cream, entertainment, Safe area with security patrol
etc, etc,

Level parking

The members who expect to use their generator will be place in the same
area. So it will be no problem for the times you can use your generator. It
will give more amps for other members.

P.S. We speak english too.

Best regards

CB Radio

So.........is everyone bringing their CB Radio? Using the cell phone in Canada will cost $.69/minute (Verizon). Looks like a CB Radio is necessary to communicate with everyone on outtings.
