Region 1 Rally 2004 (What a BLAST!!!)

Just returned from Region 1 Rally today, and couldn't wait to tell everyone about our first and very exciting experience of becoming a WBCCI member.

We arrived on Friday morning, just in time for the lovely breakfast to be served by the Region 1 members. Everyone was gracious, friendly and veryyyy hospitable. We couldn't believe the kindness of each and every member. After breakfast, all the new comers were taken to a seperate building to learn all the tips on AS'ing and given a booklet for all helpful tips.

The evenings were filled with musical entertainment and there were activities for the children. People invited us in to see their tt's, and were very interested to see ours. On Saturday, the Vintage AS owners allowed everyone to come in their tt's to ask questions.

We have never attended a function before with complete strangers and felt so at home and cared about. It is the people who makes the difference bonded by a common love for a product, and the life style it provides. It's not who you are, or what your background is! It's all about the kinship of being an AS owner. It is a pure as it can get.

We would highly recommend future get togethers with Region 1 Rallies. It's not a club for only "the retired". There were a surprising number of members from the 30's-50's something crowd. Our 2004 Safari was parked in the Vintage Section which consisted of all forum members, what a delight! Again I would like to encourage forum members to join WBCCI and come to our rallies. A special thanks to all our forum friends.

DEO, thanks for playing the guitar. We all loved it.
Myboyburt, thanks for letting my daughter pet your cat everyday.
Over59, my daughter loved your bead curtain.
rluhr, you have a very sweet daughter, my daughter loved playing with her.
chuck, your baby is sooo cute and good.
lilpeewee, thanks for driving up from Pa. to join our Region Rally. Hope you join us again.
spinolio, good luck with your house closing. Stop over sometime.
yukionna, you were very sweet to bring a second AS to let the elderly couple stay in.

Our sincere and heartful thanks to all the wonderful folks who made this happen. You are all one of a kind.

Take care all and God Bless,
Gail & T

We were very pleased with the turnout at the Region One rally this year. It was great meeting up with old friends and great meeting all the new ones! We look forward to meeting again soon. Next time around, I'll have to have a late afternoon coffee so I can stay awake for all the evening activities!

The rally was great. It was a first for my wife and I but we're looking forward to the next rally - and other get-togethers. The "mix" of older and younger couples and families was refreshing! I was concerned that, frankly, I might (---at 65) be one of the younger participants! Not only was that concern eradicated - I found that many of the even older members could run circles around me in their enthusiasm for life in general - and everything Airstream! Now I'm trying to find a vintage Airstream for my son and his family so that they can join the WBCCI.

What a great rally! We had a terrific time with all the "usual suspects" and meeting the newer members and forum participants. Thank you so much for joining us at our potluck dinner and happy hour. We loved having a little guitar music at the "after hours" get together. Looking forward to seeing you all again. See you in Vermont.

Refreshing

INDEED!!!!!!!

I knew that we could not be the only ones that were enthralled with the WBCCI.
I admit, my experience with WBCCI has been pretty much exclusive to Region 3 and I cannot count the times, I have heard "Well its good that its that way in R3 but its not that way in our region" I look back and realize that most of the naysayers were not even members or had not even tried it.

I am so glad that you tried it for yourself and experienced the family atmosphere of the WBCCI.
Even more so, another Arbitrary person has witnessed the fortitude of the senior membership. I too aspire to have the same enthusiam and ability to see the world, when I surpass the 60 year old threshold.

Now that you have witnessed the enjoyment, come on down and see how we do it here in the southeast.

Welcome aboard!

We had a Great Time at the Region 1 Rally !

What a fantastic club ! I can't say enough about how well organized the rally was and how friendly everyone was! This was our first rally and it far exceeded our expectations. As noted above and I second that, I was so happy to meet such friendly and interesting people. The entertainment was excellent and the pace was relaxed. We are already looking forward to the next rally we go to. I was pleasantly surprised that me at 47 and my wife (much younger than I) did not feel the least bit out of place. The planned and impromptu cocktail parties were really a lot of fun. (I promise to remember all the words to the songs I do next time). Our site was excellent, and the food was great. Only thing I would have done diffrent is come earlier so we could have seen more of the local area. There was so much to do at the rally we didn't want to leave the fairgrounds. Next time I will definitely go earlier. It was great meeting you all and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Thumbs up What a wonderful time!

This was our first rally for both my wife and I and we were very nervous going in thinking that we might be the only youngsters on the block. We had joined another type of club some years back and turned out we were the youngsters by about 40 years! But what a wonderful surprise to see such a mix of ages and all young at heart. My daughter Silvie enjoyed the camping, the dancing, and playing with the other children. The only comparative feeling that I can make is that the rally was like a village. Everyone looking out for everyone else, plus keeping an eye on the little ones.

I'm coming off this weekend, charged and ready for the next get together will all the wonderful people in the unit.

Charter Oak did a wondeful job!!!!

Thumbs up Fun Fun Fun!

I agree with Titu&Gail!

I did not have high hopes for the Rally based on feedback I read about the International Rally here on the forum. But the Region One Rally ROCKED!! I had a blast and cannot wait for the Region One Rally next year in Canada.

I'll post pictures from the Rally this week, once I figure out how to upload them to my computer from my camera

There's Nothing Vintage About Me!

Hey wait a minute! I see a 1993 25' Excella and a 2004 25' Safari parked at the end of "vintage row". I guess this must have been the "future vintage" section.

But all kidding aside, I was thrilled to be parked in "vintage". The effort and love put into these units really showed and I *loved* the open house the vintage folks held for us. Unknown to my beloved husband I'm now looking for a vintage unit for us to work on once our 93 is under control.
