Hi DEO,

We don't know what to expect either, but going with an open mind. I know the vintage AS's are having an open house. I think that is Friday AM. Looking forward to that, I will get more details and post here.

My philosophy when going to a party, "Don't wait for the fun to happen, be the one to make the fun". Sooooooooo, bring your guitar and we can get the party rollin'. A sing along is always fun.

I have been told that approximately 100 AS tt will be there.

See ya at Woodstock,
Gail

I can give you my impressions from last year. (only "region" rally I've been to so far). It was not like the international...the demographics were much broader. since its kind of a "biggie", they do have some of that hokey pomp and circumstance stuff w/ the funny hats and flags and all...but i skipped that part. but most of it was just a bunch of airstreamers just hanging out having a good time. good food, too. the nightly entertainment was...well...ok, it stank one night, but was pretty good the next.

age of the attendees ranged from 4 months, to 90+ (not sure about the oldest, but I do know who was the youngest! ). I think its fair to say that there was something for everyone. It was our first official rally, and the experience was enough to keep us coming back for more. check this photo gallery to get an idea of the demographics..

DEO,

Sounds like fun. My question is how do we meet when there is over 100 tt there? I was thinking of making a sign with our forum screen name, so forum members can identify us. Hey, we can sing around the campfire. How quaint. I'd bring a piano if I could lift it. My weighs about 700 lbs.
Well, just the same I think it's going to be fun.

Most of the region rallies have a locater board on a common Bulletin board. Members can post sign up sheets too. Make one and post it. I would have a date and time for the forum gathering on it so you cover 2 bases.

Have fun!

There was talk a while back about creating an official "airstreamforums.com" logo...did that ever happen? and if so, is there a graphic somewhere we could download and print? thinking we could print something out and put it in a window with our "alias" so people know who we are.

Or...we could put big red numbers on our trailer so everyone can lookup who we are in some sort of publication...hmmmm.....

Big Red Numbers

I've been wrestling with the big red number thing for the rally. It really pains me to stick anything to my new trailer. Any suggestions for a temporary solution for the rally?

Rite of passage. An airstream isn't an Airsteam until it has it's numbers on it.

Hey DEO,

We feel the same way. WBCCI specifies where to put the numbers. We'd thought of putting them on the front rock shield window. Hate the thought of possibly ruining the skin. That's another question I have to ask Charter Oak Unit. By the way, what unit in Region 1 did you join?

What is your WBCCI #? I'm thinking of making a poster of all the forum members who said they are going so we can find each other.

Gail

kewl. feel free to e-mail me. big files are ok

The "numbers" thing has been discussed quite a bit here. Many people make up a sign and hang it in their front window these days. One person even used suction cup mounted hooks to hang a plexiglass sign in the standard location. I was thinking that one of those clear vinyl "magnetic" sticky thingies with the numbers on it would work well, too.

me...I'm going to put the numbers on. (haven't got to it yet. its on my list...still... ). My trailer has terrible "ghosts" of at least 2 old numbers. In the process of attempting to clean up what I thought was old glue, I wound up pollishing them. turns out, what I thought was the remains of some glue and associated dirt/crud, was actually oxidized alluminum. the old numbers had eaten through the clear-coat. anyway, now I've got really shiney ghosts. Even though my new numbers won't cover the old ghosts, I still think it'll be an improvement over what's there now. the only complete solution would be to strip and polish the entire center segment. there's no way I'm ever going to polish the whole thing. and for now, the clear-coat is over all in excellent shape. especially for a trailer its age. What do you think a "chrome-like" center segment would look like, leaving the rest of the trailer in its moderately shiney decent clear-coat finish? hmm....an interesting "accent" piece? or just plain silly?
