Q5T4 Turkey Day in Quartzsite 2011

Officially, this turkey will fall 11/23-11/27, but the arrivals can be early and the departures late...it will be a boondocking, free rally with all the pomp and circumstance you have grown to expect of a 4CU rally...no specific agenda...pets, kids, and grown-ups are welcome(grown-ups may require supervision)...bring chairs, a table or two, firewood, food&libations of choice, and count on happy hours, possibly breakfast potluck, T-day potluck(turkies will amass with the size of the crowd and willing donors-we have 2 so far)...guests are encouraged and always welcome(membership is not required, but airstreams are preferred)...tours of some of the local sites can be arranged, but participation is strictly voluntary...the desert has a way of s l o w i n g things down.
In the past, warm gear has proven to be an asset, and you can expect some windy days...directions will be forthcoming...this is south of Quartzsite at Roadrunner CG...14 day free BLM area, but registration will be required...last year they gave me a book of forms, and we just passed it around...If you want to try out a non-stress rally with a great group of folks(after all, if you come, yer one of them...), the sign up list is located on the forums 'upcoming rallies'...jump on in on this thread for questions, comments, or irreverent observations...we'll be waiting

Thanks, Howard...we'll be headed south in a day or five, and probably take a couple of weeks to get to Q(it's 750 MILES...that's a long way...) ...m

We are in DC. Will begin our trek west on the 17th. Have appt in Las Vegas on the 11th of Nov. From Vegas we will head to Q. Plan to be there around the 20th. Will fill out the form when/if we get to Vegas. Barring any major repairs, we should be in Q for turkey.

Get out before the snow flakes fly again! Just watch out for the church bells in Hatch.

There may be a small group of intrepid Californians heading to Q for T-day or thereabouts. I am currently negotiating with the family to see when I may be excused from the table so I can H. A. (an old Airstream term) to the Q. Most likely it will be very late Thursday or Friday, post feed. There is a rumor that some of my brothers in crime may be caravanning your way as well. More details to follow.

I miss the Queen!

When I go there we are the only "Yes." There are some maybes and noes.

Truthfully I am waiting to see if Safari 57 will make it. I know he will have some problems with Homeland Security after that bizarre incident in Oregon involving a duck... Barry?

I heard that the duck decided not to press charges, but that could be a vicious rumor...come to think of it, though, Homeland Security tends to use vicious rumors...not to duck the question...
I KNOW I signed up for this shindig...could be there are two sign-up threads?

Sign-ups

The like that Terry posted, and also the same link in post #4, go to the sign-up sheet with 4 YES, 3 MAYBES, and 3 NO. Mike you are signed up on that list. Milo - you are not on that list. This is also the same sign-up list that you can get to from the Rallies tab at the top of the forums page.

If there is a second list - I can't find it. There was a duplicate discussion thread that I started for Mike and had it killed when Mike started this one.

A little over a week to go!

Currently at Roadrunner, set up one wash west of the rally site...actually like it a bit better...smaller, but I'm not worried about running out of room...the SKPs rally will commence Tuesday, but should be gone at least by Sunday, so the original site will be available...anyone have any thoughts?...preferences?...inconsequential opinions?...
Lordy! It's good to be back in the desert...killer sunset coming on...

Howard,

I kid you not. When I click on the link Terry posted I get different info than you. It has happened before. I suspect that Airforums is anti California.

Milo,
It has to do with the start time of the rally and the time zone that you are located in. The start time is 1230am in AZ, but that would be 1130pm on the previous day in California. It is an anomaly of the forums software, but it treats the rally as two different event depending on what day it begins and in what time zone you are located. It has caused a riff in the time/space continuum. When you look at the rally, it starts late on Tuesday night, when I look at it it starts early Wednesday morning.

If you go into your profile and change your time zone to MST (you want to live here anyway) you will see all the entries. Changing the start time for the rally will really mess up the attendees list, ask me how I know...
