FINALLY got on the road yesterday afternoon...drove 50 miles, stopping to pick up Max(toad)...but we got over the passes, albeit at about 20 mph. will try to make it to ABQ tonight, but no promises...m

We will when we hit Las Cruces...I really don't like IH 40 in the winter, and 17 is a lot of up and down...I want to keep this rig afloat for awhile...T-day is still a ways away, and...oh, we're retired...

Thanks, Michael...we'll probably just go straight to Roadrunner and get the purchased permit after the rally...same place as last year...we are really gonna have to experience Slab City sometime soon...

Okay--still trying to figure out where everything is on the Forums. Somewhere I know there are directions to where the rally is in Quartzite..and other info. Haven't found it yet and need to get off to work. Can someone direct me or send info? We'll be getting in Weds. I think the plans would be to leave Farmington NM on Tuesday night...thanks.

I found this from 2008

(1) Go about 5 miles south of Quartzsite on AZ 95 to just past mile marker 99.
(2) Turn right onto 53rd ST North,just after you turn bare right onto durt road,sign has Road Runner camp ground.
(3) Go 4 tenths of a mile you will pass camp host.
(4) Then turn right across wash

That must have been Jimmini's post...I would recommend that you take the immediate right after turning in to Roadrunner(almost a U-turn), as the wash crossing there is more rig-friendly...I should have the pink surveyor's tape and signs with pink arrows up...FOLLOW THE PINK TO THE ALUMINUM!!!

Can anyone tell me what the road(hwy 26) from Hatch to Deming is like???...any steep climbs?

Mike, the road is mainly flat as a fritter. A few small hills just outside of Hatch but otherwise clear sailing. You even get to drive by Nutt ( in the middle of nowhere). Get fuel in Lemitar just North of Socorro. There is fuel in Hatch but they are expensive. They repaved most of the road about a year ago.

Will be seeing you in a few days. We plan to leave for Q on the 23rd.

Thanks Howard. We pulled into Hatch after dark, and found a church parking lot...moved everything off the beds to the front seats, and then the hourly bells went off(there's a shorter version of the same bells on the half-hour)...I might be a bit cranky, tomorrow...
