The Stars Are Aligning....

...So we plan to be there. We'll be spending some time in and around Detroit the week prior to Night Of Destruction. We're going to the Henry Ford Museum. Any other ideas for places to go, places to eat between Detroit and Kalamazoo?

Looking forward to being there.

Lucius

Well Lucius, There is the Rv hall of fame here in Elkhart (we are just east of Notre Dame 20 minutes) It is good for a half day if you walk slow. There are many Rv's made around here and some offer tours of the plants. There are also some Rv sruplus shops here (no airstream specific parts but lots of funiture, water pumps, heaters, airconditioners, stuff like that. In Kalamazoo there is the Air Zoo. I have never been but I hear it is cool with lots of vintage aircraft. I might dig a little and find some web sites for you.

I haven't been here myself but Miller's bar in Dearborn is a must go to place when my inlaws are in town. They were voted the 3rd best burger in the country at one time. You can check out their website at www.millersbar.com.

There is the Detroit Institute of Art and casinos to enjoy downtown. Gilbralter Trade Center in Taylor is an indoor flea market similiar to Trader's World outside of Cinncinati. It's hard to say since I'm not sure what you like to do or see. If I come up with something else I'll post it up.

Thanks for the Suggestions

Hi Everyone - thanks for the suggestions. All those things sounds very appealing to us. Food, planes, art, RVs - what's not to like? Danielle has been looking up some off-the-beaten-path stuff for us to see. We're pretty easily amused so it does not have to be fancy to suit us. Free and low cost are always good.

Thanks again. We're looking forward to the Night of Destruction.

I have a posting on Facebook running also http://http://www.facebook.com/#!/ev...81982345161538
Maybe we can get some more people to come with this.

This is not an Airstream only event. If you have friends you want to bring, by all means invite them! We will have plenty of room. Just remember there are no hook ups.

The time is getting near and I am getting excited. There has been such little response to this event I am nervous. But with no fees and no overhead we have nothing to lose. I would like to get an idea of how many people and trailers to expect. I am sure this will be a great time no matter how many people come.

Have been wanting to come to this rally , still have the plans to come. But the work schedule may not cooperate. We are building a new facility at work and in prep for the grand opening we are having to work extra. Will be last minute decision for us.

Hi Mike,
We will be arriving friday with the blue noodles. It seems all my firefighter buddies have went AWOL,although we still have a couple of maybes. My Daughter,Husband and two grandsons will be coming saturday for the races and will spend the night with us.
Are we planning to have a campfire? We can bring a little campfire wood with us and what are the plans for eating?

Yes Buck we are planning a fire both nights weather permitting. Although they will not be of metro Detroit standards unless for some reason woody shows up with a absurd amount of wood. But we have not seen them on the list so I bet we're safe. Please bring some wood, I will bring a nice load of kiln dried scraps but having some logs is nice too.

Food. On Friday when I get there I will light the grill and keep it hot for the night so bring you hot dogs or brats and we will cook them while you set up. We are planning chillydogs and will have chilli to share. It may even turn into community table who knows. Saturday we can do a potluck late breakfast. We are going to make Ebilskivers ( lil pancakes puffs filled with nutella or fruit preserves) to share. We are planning on track food for dinner. Then after the fireworks are over we will do pitch in snacks at the fire. We will pop popcorn on the fire and may even break out the kettle corn. Sunday is a crapshoot. Whatever happens...happens. sound good? Have any other ideas? I am open to suggestions.
