At least 20, but it's better if they can accommodate 30.

Hi all.

I spoke with friends at Airstream Inc and put the question to them: What eatery in town could host 20 - 30 streamers.

The only answer was Cafe Verandah.

They thought we might be able to squeeze into the Bar.

Anyone thinking Pot Luck in a few E-Z up type tents set-up on the lawn.

There is plenty of grassy areas back of the Terra Port by the bar-b-q pit.

Bring a extra propane bottle with a infrared heater head to supply heat (That's what our unit does in the event of cold weather)

Just thinking out loud...

Sounds good to me! Maybe we can earn our "Camp Alaska" airstreaming award!

Another idea: steal keys to service bay and setup in there.....

So I've been thinking of what kind of fun activities we might be able to have besides the normal.

Without being to "formal", how about a "trailer driving school" presented by someone that actually knows how (not me )! Discuss hooking up, backing, use of overdirive, tire inspection, and whatever else comes up. This came up recently in a post and sounded like a neat idea.

Maybe follow that with a safety inspection?

And then how about a trailer rodeo in the afternoon for some cool prizes? We could do blindfolded backing led by your partner!

I need some sleep.....

Jason's still at work, but I'll go ahead and speak for him

We're up for trying to earn our "Camp Alaska" awards.

I went to a campgrounds and they had a contest of running an obstacle course in golf carts blindfolded with the passenger verbally navigating and it was a hoot.

Not sure if we can make it so we shouldn't really vote but it sounds like Camp Alaska and improv would be more fun as opposed to a restaurant setting. Something tells me the kids would have more fun at home in the AS and in the wild on the grass, regardless of their biological ages, young or old.

With so many parking areas, and fields of grass on Airstream property, I would think skate boards, bikes and skates and outdoor games would have plenty of ground to cover in the immediate and outlying areas. Frisbe and playing ball, should pose no problems to find ample space within a short walking distance. It's a very dog friendly environment as well. BTW I like the food at the corner bar, just in case we really need fortification out of the elements whatever those "elements" might prove to be. It's got the old fashioned bowling game and tvs, seems to be the local lunch and after work hang-out.

Pizza, chicken or other take out should also be available in JC. The supermarket has great chicken ready to go. Though our AS ovens should be up to the chore just fine.

weather

If we have the white kind of weather we could have a snowman building contest! LOL!!!
Larry has several tarps and we have a 12x12' canopy. We are up for the outdoors....at least for part of the time.

OOPS. Just tore mine (oven) out this winter as part of "renovation". Oh well, it was intentional. I'm a grillin' kind of guy, and yes, I do it in the snow and I do it with charcoal!

Regarding restaurants in the area, I got the following PM from AirForums member H2K:

South on I-75 at the Anna exit is a Wendy's.

If you want a meeting room I would suggest HiMarks in Sidney. Applebee's, Wendy's, China Garden Buffet, Culver's, a Mexican Rest., and Wild Wings are all at the St. Rt. 47 exit in Sidney.

Got this on my calendar. If I can successfully defend those dates, I'll come. I am greatly relieved to know as Carol says, that "Animals are allowed inside the lounge." If they'll treat me that nice, maybe I will find some repairs / service I need done!

I've been there several times, but have never gotten the factory tour. I think that would be interesting.

Since you mention kids...

For those that don't know us and that might be contemplating coming to NOVA-fest and have kids, we'll be there with Parker and Mason. Parker will still be 3 at the time and Mason will be 3 weeks short of 2 years old. They are fine to be in the AS watching a DVD (we can do that on 120V or 12V) or riding the bikes / trikes around. Yeah, they hang on mom & dad some too, but that's the way it is. If we go to a restaurant, especially if there's a place where we can plug in the portable DVD player and take some toys; they're set for a couple hours.

We'll have mom & dad's bikes too as long as it's not too frigid so I'm sure we'll make good use of the Airstream Inc. property for riding around on Sat. afternoon.

As one of the biologically old kids I would have fun sticking around the rally site. We have folders, we might bring 'em if it isn't too cold. But I suppose we should decide where or what we do or go. ???

We have two dogs and a cat that travel with us, no grandchildren this trip.

Gee Lou now I want to move the date up and go sledding after we make that snowman!

Ryan they treat everybody nice, people too, it's the Mothership. haha

I guess a time and place for lunch or dinner would be good to know. Even the factory tour which day, etc. I don't think they do tours on the weekend.

Gary

Gary said that there was a possibility of them giving us a tour on Fri. if there was enough interest. Maybe Gary can clarify the tour time/day.

What I worked out with them was - if we have a large enough group of 20 or so - they would give us our own group tour at 10 am on Friday.

Otherwise... there is the regular daily weekday tour at 2:00 on Friday but the factory has stopped working for half day Friday? Is that correct? It is a lot quieter and sometimes Don gives a longer more interactive tour when the factory workers are not there so it is still a really good tour and no one gets in anyone else's way. I like the new Airstreams part best, but then I have taken the tour so many times that's probably why.

Yes, there is the regular 2:00 tour. We discussed that it usually has several tourees if you will. This is why we worked out doing our own tour if the group justifies it.

How do I find the Rally Calendar? I've looked but can't find it.

rally calendar

Tom, there is a blue menu bar at the top of this page that has white lettered tabs. Put your cursor on the one that says Rally Calendar and click. It should take you to the calendars. From there you find the month you are looking for, then you can click on the event that you are seeking. From there you will be able to sign up on the page to RSVP. (Yes, No, or maybe) There will be a text block where you can type a small comment too.

Hi Tom! It is on the left of the page in the column with the other links...upcoming rallies. Are you thinking of coming?
