White Oak, New Mexico
White Oak is a ghost town 9 miles east of US 54 near Carizozo, NM wiith a very live saloon named No Scum Allowed. There is a renowned Chile Cook Off on Saturday 5/5. The Cinco de Mayo (Mexican Independence Day) is a close second in these parts to the 4th of July.
The No Scum Allowed saloon will be open for the weekend for your eating and drinking pleasure and will feature a Chili Cook Off on Saturday.
Several of the historical town buildings are set up as museums.
This will be dry camping (speaking of water only)
Nearby is White Sands, The Alamogordo Space Museum, and railroad, Three Rivers Petroglyph Site and Historical Lincoln NM of Billy the Kid and Lincoln County Wars fame.
