Regretfully we cannot make Saturday night, need to get mother in law home to pack her up to return to CT. However, I noticed you want to have a white elephant present swap. We used to belong to a camping group and we had a BLAST with a chinese auction. You deal out cards, ACE low, Spades high, King of spades picks a gift, opens it, Queen of spades picks a gift, opens it, if queen likes kings gift better, TAKES IT, etc etc to last, and lowest card.
It gets very interesting, like one year the toilet seat won!!!!

Well... since it's a Southern theme - instead of cooking something Italian I'll make Low Country Red Rice. It's a popular dish in the Low Country of South Carolina (around Charleston) and can be found in many Charleston restaurants. It's made with chicken, smoked sausage and seasoned rice.

Geocaching anyone?
Jan and I just started this a few months ago and it is a lot of fun. I will be bringing my GPS. I will also be releasing my Airstream Travel Bug.

Marge and I know you will have a great time at Picacho Peak over the new year. We are not happy that we have to miss it , but we leave for Boston on Monday (high of 24 degrees) to visit with the grandchildren over the holidays.

Early Arrivals
We went to Picacho a couple of weekends ago to scope out the area. I spoke to the ranger about our rally weekend to see if early arrivals could proceed to the group area and there seemed to be some confusion as to whether the site was booked prior to our reservation on the 31st. She told me to call the day before and check to see if the site would be available on the 30th.
We have decided to head down there on the morning of the 30th instead of calling. Hopefully, we can sweet talk them into letting us occupy the site before the whole group gets there. We should arrive sometime mid morning and hopefully, we can just move right into the group site. My last count showed 4-5 rigs that plan on being there on the 30th.
If we have to occupy a regular site prior to the 31st. There are two electrical loops in the park and one that is dry camping only. The electrical loops are $20 per night and the non-electrical are $12 per night.
As a reminder, there are no water or sewer hook ups, but there is potable water available to fill your tanks at the entrance to the camping areas near the dump station.
If you are arriving from the North, there is a construction project that has the normal exit for Picacho State Park closed, watch for the signs as you enter the construction area. You will see an orange sign with and exit for Picacho Peak Road this exit will take you to a two lane road and you need to make the left at the intersection. This will take you to another intersection and a sign will point you to the park entrance. The construction area is just south of the town of Picacho.
For those arriving from the South, the exit is open but is in the construction area.
We hope everyone has a safe trip and look forward to a great rally!
If you have any questions or need any other information, please PM me.

Merry Christmas y'all.
Depending on what the weather does to us today and tomorrow, we plan to hit the road on Monday AM, overnight in Deming or Benson, and should be in on Tuesday sometime.
The last forecast of 1-3 inches was 9-12. Will need to get the neighbor to start his grader and clear the drive so we can get the 'stream out to the road.
Mike, will haul some wood also.

We have a neighbor who cut down a large mesquite tree, we are going to see if there is anything left. Otherwise being city slickers and all, we will have to purchase some bundles at the supermarket. Pallets should burn nicely Mike, we will see you on Tuesday morning.
