Marge and I know you will have a great time at Picacho Peak over the new year. We are not happy that we have to miss it, but we leave for Boston on Monday (high of 24 degrees) to visit with the grandchildren over the holidays.

Harry, you will definitely be there in spirit, we will tip a couple in your honor. We will miss you both, but hope you have a great Christmas with your family.
We went to Picacho a couple of weekends ago to scope out the area. I spoke to the ranger about our rally weekend to see if early arrivals could proceed to the group area and there seemed to be some confusion as to whether the site was booked prior to our reservation on the 31st. She told me to call the day before and check to see if the site would be available on the 30th.
We have decided to head down there on the morning of the 30th instead of calling. Hopefully, we can sweet talk them into letting us occupy the site before the whole group gets there. We should arrive sometime mid morning and hopefully, we can just move right into the group site. My last count showed 4-5 rigs that plan on being there on the 30th.
If we have to occupy a regular site prior to the 31st. There are two electrical loops in the park and one that is dry camping only. The electrical loops are $20 per night and the non-electrical are $12 per night.
As a reminder, there are no water or sewer hook ups, but there is potable water available to fill your tanks at the entrance to the camping areas near the dump station.
If you are arriving from the North, there is a construction project that has the normal exit for Picacho State Park closed, watch for the signs as you enter the construction area. You will see an orange sign with and exit for Picacho Peak Road this exit will take you to a two lane road and you need to make the left at the intersection. This will take you to another intersection and a sign will point you to the park entrance. The construction area is just south of the town of Picacho.
For those arriving from the South, the exit is open but is in the construction area.
We hope everyone has a safe trip and look forward to a great rally!

Depending on what the weather does to us today and tomorrow, we plan to hit the road on Monday AM, overnight in Deming or Benson, and should be in on Tuesday sometime.
The last forecast of 1-3 inches was 9-12. Will need to get the neighbor to start his grader and clear the drive so we can get the 'stream out to the road.
We have a neighbor who cut down a large mesquite tree, we are going to see if there is anything left. Otherwise being city slickers and all, we will have to purchase some bundles at the supermarket. Pallets should burn nicely Mike, we will see you on Tuesday morning.
Merry Christmas all..Question, debating if I should fill with water here?? If really cold might be a big problem, is the water fill there a hose that will provide 30 gallons or so?? Sometimes just a faucet and gotta lug it.
Karen is going to do a southern gumbo, less peppers that I am allergic to. We got a ton of Ochra this summer.
Generators, concern over how good my battery will hold up as this is first dry camping with it, got my little 500W Honda, and comments. I have a top of the line type 27 deep cycle in it.
Furnace pulls 5amps, so battery is 55 amp hours..gonna need to charge.
Looking forward to meeting you all..weather looks GREAT.

OK - as long as everyone is bringing wood, we'll bring a 45 cup coffee maker and 3 lbs (or so) of coffee. Does anyone know how the water is there - or do we need to bring some jugs of bottled water????

The water is ok, but you may want to filter it...don't know how fussy you are, but we pretty much routinely filter AZ water...twice...a habit started at Q...we'll bring a bit of coffee, too. Currently, Tucson is getting quite the showers...my pallets are wet...

We are going to fill our tank at home, but there is a water fill station in the park near the dump station. I am sure the water is fine. We have never had any issues with potable water at the AZ State Parks.
