I'm planning on entering a "Bambi Stew" in the Dutch Oven contest. I'm also thinking of bringing a second dutch oven to try to bake some bread in it. Should be fun!

On Sunday we are planning to head over to a couple of the Boston Harbor Islands to score some National Park Passport stamps and to tour a historic fort or two. All are welcome to join us.

Hi Michelle, Deb Hall here.

I was wondering how you know how to make adjustments to recipes for using a dutch oven -- especially bread. I'm afraid I'd burn it. Do you elevate it from the bottom of the DO, and keep it in from the sides?

Also, can you pretty much adjust any recipe (within reason) to be able to use a DO for it?

Thanks.

Deb

I was checking out some websites for recipes and "how to's". I found several with conversion charts.

We are bringing one of our unit's coffee pots and coffee (of course). We'll have some EZ-Ups instead of our unit tent because this is a pretty informal event. Don't forget Rick has a very exciting dutch oven cook off contest planned for Saturday!!! Be there or be square!!!

Exclamation There will not be any electric hookups available!

INFORM!

I just received a phone call from the folks at Wompatuck State Park. They are having problems with their electricity so we will NOT have electric service this weekend. Be sure your coach batteries are fully charged and bring generators if you've got them. Also a reminder to come empty and full because Wompatuck does not have water / sewer hookups.

And we have power! The state park got it going this evening. They do plan to shut it off between 9:00am and 12:00pm on Saturday to complete repairs but we do and will have power this weekend.

Yummy!!

an intimate group...but a good time was had by all. Plenty of leftovers for dinner on Sunday night, for a dutch-oven redux.
Great weather, too!

Lets do it again next weekend! I could get used to this. YOU all cook for me...I eat, and pass judgement.

Its good to be the king...
