MOHO at WBCCI Rallies

We are considering trading our AS TT for an AS motorhome. For those of you in MH's, would we be as welcome at a WBCCI rally? I suspect it would be a non-issue for most folks. But, you never know.

If it's an Airstream it wouldn't be a problem.

Certainly not all WBCCI units are the same. You can only go by how your unit treats current members that own motor homes as to how they would treat you. However, I can tell you that there are some WBCCI units that would treat you like I have been told my unit treats members who own motor homes. They treat motor home owners like people that show up at travel trailer rallies in motor homes, i.e. with a cold shoulder.

One the other hand, I can almost assure you that you would be treated no differently in a motor home than a trailer at a forums rally. In fact, you would probably garner more interest during the open house than anyone else because your Airstream would be different than the rest. If you are treated poorly, then we all need to know about it!

I can vouch for the warm reception at forums rallies--everyone is so interested to see what a moho looks like, and we have had some great visits. We love to see trailers for the same reason--that they are different from our moho, but yet so similar.

I do not think I will ever attend a WBCCI rally, unless we find a unit that is similar to the forums.

Tom;
I have been to an International rally, several Region rallies and numerous Unit reallies and never witnessed a MH owner being treated differently. The only time I witnessed the fur fly was at the Hobo Rally 2007 when the issue of non Airstream MHs being admitted into the WBCCI came up. You should do just fine at any WBCCI event with an Airstream.

I can only speak for the 4CU where we have had several MHs at different rallies. I think the MHs do draw a little more attention on open house day, but many of them are the best decorated Airstreams at the rallies.

The first "Forums" Rally, actually almost before the Forums, was our Mystic Springs 7 Classic motorhome rally. What a great memory of a fun weekend. .

All I can tell you is that a fellow forum member that has a motor home and the unit president, who also has a motor home, told me they are treated a little "different" at the unit rallies. This is despite the fact that they both are very active in volunteering at the unit events. As far as the high-mucky-mucks, I think they are members of a different caliber than the rest of us folks and don't acknowledge how they are treated by fellow members but how they treat fellow members. But I shouldn't be going there...that's not what this thread is about.

which model, era and style of a/s moho?

many class a diesel a/s moho owners i've met (that aren't wbcci/ibt bobbleheads)...

enjoy and have more in common with fmca or the good sam club...

and these groups have rallies that often better fit the modern larger moho owners needs...

like 50 amp service...

so why are u considering the change?

i mean besides more space and storage capacity, better floor plans, easier setup and fewer surface issues?

cheers

No problems with my B-van at Washington, DC Unit rallies. I wondered about this, too, before I went to my first one, but they welcomed me like part of the family.

Hey Tom,

You will be welcomed. Our WBCCI Unit is made up of a great mixture of Airstream products and every member is valued. Fact is most of my family is into Airstreaming and the Airstream Club (WBCCI). My parents have a 2001 MH, we have a 1993 Excella and my sister and her husband have a vintage 1977 Argosy Minuet 6.0. We all belong to the NEU and are having a great time camping and traveling with this club.

This is an old thread but thought I would post an update. Owned my diesel AS Landyacht since 2015 and have always been welcomed with open arms at the Airstream events attended. At the Montana Rally, everyone wanted to see the interior so after a tour, it was the talk of the campfire that night.

However, I did hear a negative comment from a new AS Interstate Class B owner about going to Tin Can Trailer event in Florida. They would not allow him to park the motorhome in the trailer area and instead made him leave it in the public parking lot. When questioned why, they said cause it was fiberglass and not a trailer.

I'll be at the Michigan International Rally in July so hope to see all types of Airstreams there. You will find me in the generator lot..haha!

Thank you for updating this thread!!

We are relative newbies to airstreaming. Health issues will mean no more tt, so we were considering a MOHO. We were trying to stay with AS to be able to continue with new acquaintances and destinations.
Our concern was being included in unit and club activities--our prime reason for staying with the brand.
